Congrats to all the winners.
There was some excellent bowling both days.
The turnout by the PBA/ PWBA and PYABA Board members was commendable. There was just enough help to correct scoring, write down scores and help out in many ways.
Well done. And what about that announcer... dude's got a face for radio.... #party-smiley-017#

Thank you David....niether Brad nor myself want to talk on the microphone. I hate subjecting people to my voice amplified! Thanks to those that showed up to help. It was great. This was the largest city tournament we have had in a long time. The biggest snafu of the weekend was the lanes not getting dressed at Diamond, but like I told the bowlers....none of the lanes were dressed, so the conditions were fair. Didn't stop them from bowling some decent scores. Austin Thurston shot 700 plus in singles. Not sure what the other scores were, I wasn't verifying them.

Thanks to all board members for the support this weekend. it was greatly appreciated. There were some good scores all around & the kids seemed to have fun. It was Zach's 1st tournament & he averaged 14 pins over his normal average for the tournament. Probably not enough to win anything but he did well had a great time!

Wonderful tournament! Kudos to Paula and Brad who are doing a fantastic job - and folks, these people have plenty more they could be doing, that is total commitment! It was my grandson Wade's first tournament also - he just started bowling this year - he is 11 - and he averages 71 in league but averaged 89 overall for the tournament and had 2 games over 100! he was so excited - he had him mom come out, everyone was there. He has been bit by the bowling bug. I had lots of fun and I am so impressed by these young people's bowling - pretty amazing how good they are. thanks so much!!!!!

The kids probably won't care but for the parents who were there who are actually bowlers that will stick #smileys-gif-127_0# I know in March when the USBC City Tournament is at Demon the lanes better get ran or I know one bowler who will be demanding a refund #smileys-gif-127_0# #batte_fou# Perfect and I'll be right behind him #grrr# Amazing when you have bowlers from the whole city coming to your center to bowl a city tournament and management doesn't make sure the place is in A-1 condition. Lanes dressed properly, the place clean from the previous night's rock n bowl. You would have thought that with a center needing bowlers the place would have been ready with all the kids coming from armageddon with their parents because most of these kids don't drive yet #SmlyROFL# Someone should have MADE sure they were ready. And that's just my opinion #soapbox#

First things first, the place was clean. I heard no complaints about anything to do with the appearance of the center. Second, there was paper towels and toilet paper in the restrooms. There was plenty of help in the snack bar, and they had 2 lane attendants working the floor.
The lanes seemed to run fine also, a few missing pins, but mostly problems with the scoring. Several times, bowler's names would be deleted for no reason... don't know why, we just added them back in and it workde okay.
The lane machine breaking down was unfortunate. Maybe they should have oiled the lanes the night before and then they would have known it was broken and the mechanic wold have had some notice to get there before the tournament started. The scores weren't terrible.
Alot of the same problems happened when you were woreking there bom, and you got mad at anybody that didn't give Diamond a break. Now that you are not working there, you are the first or second one to jump on the "bash Diamond bandwagon"...
I know you have less interest in Association activities than I do, but, Pasadena losing a bowling Center down to 1, is not good for the bowlers in Pasadena... and it's not like things are so rosy @ Armadilla II either...
I've heard just as much complaining about the approaches this year there, as I did last year @ Diamond... hell, one of your own teammates stuck and almost blew out his knee last week... and you want the bowlers to call the desk and have their approaches cleaned... AFTER they stick... seems like that should be taken care of beforehand...

Looking at the attendance report I see perfect had an unexcused absence at the last meeting, so he missed out on the announcement.

How would you have taken that if you hadn't been there? As for Screwed sticking last week he said it was mostly his fault. Not saying the approaches are glass at Armadilla 2 but he rushed his approach and wasn't prepared to stick if he had. He said he had no problem with the approaches on his strike ball or any other spare he shot for the whole night. So before YOU start bashing Armadilla 2 know the whole story. I guess the same could be said about me assuming that Demon wasn't prepared for the tournament. But I'm going to work early today and I'm going to check the approaches for tonight and clean them if needed. Out of all the different styles I hope I don't miss a spot. Someone might stick and think we're not trying #bsflag#

Your going up there only to see if your next 'Bomquest" is willing.....lol.. #owned2#

O.K. Bom, you are really starting to sound pathetic. I have watched you slander myself and all of the other Diamond employees on this web site for about a year now. Since you like to point out to the public everything that goes wrong over here, maybe its time to tell the public a couple of things about you.
One thing is that Diamond lanes was neglected for over a decade. As I recall, you were the man in charge over here for quite a few of those years. I have been busting my tail to try and get this place in shape, but it is physically impossible for me to fix all of the things that you plain and simply would not, within one years time. For the first six months that I worked here, I would work from 9am till 10pm, Monday though Friday, and even a couple of hours on Saturday. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to. BECAUSE I ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THIS PLACE. To tell the truth, it will probably still take another two or three years to get this place in shape. This building already has half of the problems that it had when you were running the show, whether you want to admit it or not makes no difference to me. Now I have tried to show you as much respect as I possibly could over this past year because of the fact that I think your son is a pretty cool guy and you are good friends with Jimbo, who I have the utmost respect for, but let it be known right now in front of whoever decides to read this, I think that you are a punk who wishes he could go back in time and maybe work a little harder so he could still be at Diamond. The problem with that is that you can't go back in time and fix anything, so your only option now is to slander the people who are doing what you wish you would have done. My advise to you is to move on. After looking at some of the entries on this web site, it is plain to see that everyone is tired of hearing about it.
To all of the bowlers, parents, coaches, and the Pasadena Bowling Association I apologize for the problem with the lane machine during your city tournament. What Xbom didn't tell you is that I left travel league the second that I heard about the problem so I could get to Diamond and try to address the problem. Unfortunately, Travel league was in Alvin that day so I had to drive as fast as possible to get to Diamond. Along the way I was stopped by a state trooper and givin a citation, which I will be happy to post in Diamond on the wall for all to see. That definitely didn't help me get to the center any faster.
As for you Jimmy, If you don't like what I'm saying, come shut me up. You know where to find me, I'll be at the bowling center that you almost destroyed.

Ok Trey before you start bashing me for running that place into the ground you better get your facts straight. First off I'm not a mechanic. And I have nothing but respect for the guys who are. But for you bashing me about running that place into the ground you are wrong. I always had someone over me who controlled the money. Jimmy young or John Jarvis. When Jimmy Young owned the place his mechanic had a problem with him personally and getting him to work in the back was almost impossible. When a parts order was turned in it may get ordered and it may not. And if it did get ordered only half of it was ok'd. Then when you did get the parts the mechanic wouldn't install them to make the machines run any better. 2nd The current owners made alot of promises when they bought Diamond almost 2 years ago. Promising new scoring , new paint job, remodeled bar, full service liquor license, machines running better. Granted I don't bowl there anymore but I hear the machines are running better and Demon did get painted. Because I was there when that happened every hour of it. So don't tell me about long hours because I 've done it. But where's the new scoring the full serve license. I was hearing about that over a year ago. And it should have been there before I left last November. And whoever said I ran that place into the ground can KISS IT. Because like you I gave 100% while I was there. If you have any problem with what I said you know where I'm at. And I don't think in any of my previous posts I said ANYTHING about you personally. Except maybe wishing you luck when you did go to work there because it was going to be hard work. I guess you believe me now. Because I've done it also. #nobodycares#

I will also weigh in on the amount of time the bom worked @ Diamond over the last decade was approximately 1 to 1 1/2 years, during the years 2000 to 2002.
Any other non-maintenance performed by previous ownership can be attributed to the Knape's, who sold to Tommy and Ricky, the Asian group that broke off from Dynamic's ownership, they had Rick Thomas managing and Jimbo as head mechanic. Jimmy Young and a group of investors took over from them. About that time, Jimmy F was working @ Armadilla II for a couple of years, after 10 or so years working @ Sherwin William's Automotive Paint Supply.
Then, around the fall of 2000, he went to work for Jimmy Young @ Diamond, and worked until the new Tomball group hired Daniel to become Manager or General Manager. Much of Jimmy Fields' tenure under the Tomball ownership was to hold down costs and payroll. And as he mentioned in his post, many of the promises that the ownership has told the bowlers of Pasadena have not been fulfilled.
That aside, one of the goals of the local Association is to keep the awareness of Diamond Lanes in the minds of Pasadena bowlers. There have been requests to not hold Association tournaments and events @ Diamond and only go to Armadilla....
I will fight that tooth and nail. There are 2 centers in Pasadena, and the Associations represent the bowlers of EACH.

I haven't been on the site for quite sometime; however, BIGJLE was on and I was reading over his shoulder this afternoon and saw this post. I just couldn't refrain from responding. Just for anyone interested....the "Diamond" problems did not happen over night or under one person's management! "Diamond" hasn't been worth a d**n since Keith Hall had it and it was named Hurricane Lanes! As far as anyone taking blame for things not being done...one can only do what there is financing to do. Only the money man can get things accomplished. Diamond as we know it is a dump! Has been a dump and there is no one particular person to blame!!! It was a whole city of people who had a hand in running it into the ground. For the one's involved in the center now, you probably weren't around when Hurricane thrived and was a premier bowling center in Pasadena. I personally don't ever see that center flourishing because of the bad history of lane conditions, machine problems and the center just being filthy. I am not attacking anyone personally and don't really care if anyone gets offended. This is for the benefit of those who weren't around when the center was decent and thinks it is currently on the mend.
