Saturday, September 10th marked 1 year since Missy passed away.
Can you believe it's been a year already?
rjj, G-man, Fraul and O'fer made a road trip to visit the cemetery Saturday afternoon. It was a really nice afternoon with a nice breeze blowing and since it was late afternoon, the sun was not blazing down really hard...
As we pulled in, of course, we only remembered that we had pulled about 1/2 way down the exit driveway, so we parked, and began walking toward a beautiful little clearing among the oak trees.... as we were all preoccupied with our own memories and thoughts, along with hoping we didn't have too much trouble finding the grave site, G-man helped out the search efforts in fitting style, by calling out in perfect 'Melissa-style', "M I S S S S S S S S S S Y Y Y Y Y Y Y Y Y......
For those of us that remember, or actually, those of us that can never forget, Missy and BigJiggly used to always call out "MISSY" to each other... I think it started on the river....
Well, Missy heard, and we walked straight to the site and visited and reminisced for quite a while.
We walked around looking and visiting her "neighbors" as well, commenting on the fact that many of the sites had been visited recently, many, many years after the deaths of the loved ones.
Puts things in perspective. Makes you realize how precious life is, no matter our philosophical differences in petty matters such as politics, religion or who's the better bowler.
We are all an ingredient in the recipe of each other's lives, and without a little friendly debate or arguing to spice things up, think how bland and boring we would be....
Thanks for the lesson Missy..... we will visit you again next year, and of course, it goes without saying, continue to love and miss you every day until then...
