As the holiday season approaches I worry about Christmas and how it is celebrated. Somehow the secular movement has actually succeeded in making Christmas a bad word. They have removed it from school calendars, it is now the winter break. As if we worship winter. Hmm…also, I dare someone to move that winter break to a date that doesn’t include the Christmas date….see how well that flies.
I also want to see people get the Christmas Holiday taken off the federal holiday list. That’s right, take it off…make it a normal day of work, see how people react to that. Holiday Tree??? What other holiday does the tree represent? Just say Christmas tree…tell the secularists to get over it. I am tired of all the pc excrement. The world is trying to become a place where standing up for ideals is impossible and judging ethics even harder. That’s right, as Christmas goes, so goes the world.

I also try to remember the Laws of Physics. For every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction. So, a particular cross section of our population is offended by Christmas and the use of everything related... they are offered the freedom to express that view. They are protected in their right to explore options and avenues to reduce their exposure to offensive displays. Now, the religious right, makes the same amount of fuss about the battle over "Christmas" trees and celebrations, and they want to keep things the same as they have always been, however, they cannot make the defense without spreading a sense of antagonism toward those others. So, while I don't understand the fuss about making things politically correct, I can understand that we don't need a bunch of rednecks or numskulls spreading hate against anyone with different beliefs or opinions. |

Don't forget Jerry Falwell's last public outcry concerning his "outing" of one of the Teletubbies... Tinky Winky as being "gay", and the subliminal messages this "gay" TV character was giving off to our nation's impressionable children.... the guy should have been commited right then and there...

the views of Christ and the Christmas season and celebrations should be done on a personal level. It's not for schools, or workplaces to be doing anyway. My family still celebrates and attends church for Christmas celebrations, and our belief system came from our upbringing, and how we raised our kids in the Lutheran church, with them knowing full well they were welcome to learn and investigate other beliefs and make their own conclusions. I don't begrudge jewish people their beliefs or celebrations, or any other religion. I can understand how offputting it might be though for an entire month if all I heard, saw, talked about was Hannakuh when I am not jewish, so they must hate all this Christmas business also. every one should address religious concerns personally. It can be done in the privacy of your own home, and while witnessing is part of christianity, you can and should do this by example, and not Bible beating in someone's face. You should not have to tell someone you are a christian, your life should show it. If it doesn't, and mine doesn't near like it should, then it needs work. remember, you have the right to say and do and believe as you wish, but at that same time, you must allow those whose ideas and beliefs you would do anything to stop, have their same privileges and freedoms. Everyone just do their thang baby!!!!!
I agaree with David, most of your out there evangelicals are whac. they are just too extreme, again, JMO

I'd have to say my beliefs are more in line with aqua..... 70% of the United States is Christian. The significance of Christmas since it's conception was to celebrate the birth of Christ and give presents to our loved ones and friends as did the wise men did for Jesus.... There is no other reason for Christmas, period. Why should we let a few have they're way because they say they are offended. Did John Carry get what he wanted in the last election?..No, why... because he didn't have the votes, you know, the majority of popular votes or electoral votes.... to the winners goes the spoils.... meaning they get their way.... just like in war......
The Christians view this as an attack on Jesus and God from Satin himself and his minions by lessening or even taking away the meaning of Christmas from the general populous. Out of sight out, out of mind. True, Christianity should not be forced on anyone but how is it, when it's been called this since our births and long before. I mean, if your not a Christian, then why do you buy gifts at this time of year for those you care about anyways? Because it's the thing to do?...it's customary? Habit?....What is your believe or desire to do it, if not for Christ?.... Your either for him or against him, there is no inbetween. Those people as well will be cast into the Lake of Fire along with all the non-believers, "according to the Bible"...
Let me ask you rjj or PBA, if our Bowling Assoc. one day after y'alls death wanted to have a yearly Memorial award in your honor, I mean named after you.... wouldn't you always want it to be your name that "Always" be called after?... and how would you feel if the Memorial award was to be changed later in years by a radical minority, because of political correctness? I know I wouldn't like it...... so why should we think God and Jesus would like it about what is trying to be done and has been done is some cases about Christmas?....Just a thought and ....JMO...

I know that Religion and Politics are taboo topics in mixed company, so, I will do the right thing.
I disagree with the fire and brimstone viewpoint as expressed by mr. perfect. I just can't believe a self-professed sometimes "Easter and Christmas" parishoner would have that strong a view on Christianity and the fears of Satan's work by his minions.
I'll leave it at that... because there are lines I refuse to cross in a public forum.

Wow, I've never heard the Jewish faith identified as a "radical minority?. Actually, most jews don't have an issue with it...it has really been the secular movement that wants religion removed from all public avenues. I am not for government endorsement of a particular religion, but we have it off for Christmas, and as I said, how do you call the tree a holiday tree? What other holiday uses that tree? If the city wants to be really PC, don't put up anything...but how many of us associate with lighting ceremonies, decorations, etc...tell me that people would really be ok with all of the things embedded with CHRISTMAS removed!!! |

Some Jews believe in Christ and some don't.... some have never accepted Jesus as the son of God because Jesus was a Jew..back in those days a King of any type was seldom accepted in his own country, so the saying goes...and those Jewish people are probably offended by Christmas because of what it stands for....JMO... |

I was only meaning to state that is the view of many Christians....I'm not a fire and brim stone Christian as you call it....and I'm definatly not without sin...... I personally am speaking from a traditional view point and can see some of the "Rights" concerns on this issue, since I was raised in the church..... true, I don't go as much now 2 or 3 times a year normally... and I'm not an authority on God..... but I do have some knowledge on the subject..... Sorry for the misconception... but you are right, it's not a proper subject to discuss amoungst friends....and you and rjj are amoung my closest friends... |

I was only meaning in the manner of discussing with that post and was not my intent to make anyone feel I was passing judgement.... by no means... I was not meaning that in anyway...I'm not in any position to be doing that.... and your right on most topics of discussion, meeting in the middle is the equitable and smart thing to do......but that is why politics and government are such a taboo to discuss because too often too many people are polarized on the subjects and will not compromize...JMO...
