Smooth up-n-ya started off the new quarter 3-1 last night. The lanes not much different than last night but the low end a bit better scoring than the high end. Oil carried down to the pin decks by the 5th frame of the first game again as they did Monday night but I faired a little better last night, going 223, 255, 211 for a 689 series. Got a little better carry and faster adjustments made the difference over Monday night for me...

Smooth up-n-ya went 1-3 last night because we're fighting the shot too much and can't hit our averages. The oil moves around and down the lanes too much and has seldom stayed consistent for 3 games on any of the 11 weeks we have bowled so far. After 11 weeks in this league my avg. is 219 and 15 pins lower than last year. Roger Banks after getting in his 3 weeks of bowling in this league is now at 193 and at least 25 pins under his avg. from last year. I don't know what the problem is, but I hope Arm II figures it out real soon. I know James Hickey shot an 824 last night but that was down on one of the pairs by the front desk where I shot my 794 a couple of weeks ago. Some pairs seem to be fine but most are not through out the house. Averages across the league for almost everyone is down from last year and not just by a little bit either. I know the new pins have a little to do with it but it's not all of it.
Well anyways, I went 225, 226, 214 for a 665 series. It's not bad but considering I averaged 702 a night last year for all 36 weeks and 688 a night for 36 weeks the year before, this year it turning out to be a great disappointment for me at Arm II.....
And the approaches are getting tacky again, had to buy some easy slide last night so I could slide without sticking every other shot.

We lost 3 to Randy Ray's team last night. Roger had a good night shooting 690, I had a 656 series I think. Jack and Dorin had a bad night. Those things happen.
Oil carried down last night but was not as bad as last week. Carry was horrible for the most part.
PBA, Ron Bridges shot 702 last night. He was throwing his Toxic Hammer, hitting 3rd arrow and getting out between 6th and 9th boards down the lane. Broadway didn't bowl last night and I didn't see how Falco or any other lefty did....

Shot wasn't to bad at "The Uno" had 747 (9-10) then 790 (15-16) in make up afterwards.

Go, 211, 213 and 225 for a 649 series and high on the team. We got beat all 4 games by a little. Let's not forget Clint Straitwell and Charlie Ackley. Last night Clint get's to the center for the 3rd game because of working late throws the 1st 11 stone's a 9 for 299 !!!!!! Well perfect will say but he's left handed. And Charlie bowling on Randy Ray's pair had games of 239+279+300=818. Randy had a 149 the 2nd game so maybe it was the lanes being bad LOL I had a 257 my 2nd game but overall threw the ball all over the lane and had 643 for my series. The lanes are OK at the deuce but unless your on your game your scoring reflects that JMO

Felt like I was throwing the ball good last night. ...But you know how different the ball reactions can be from pair to pair in that place and some pairs have better racks than others.... I had no problem getting to the pocket. Just couldn't get the 10 pin out half the time or more... at least I spared all of them and think I shot at least 10 of them....lol...
I may just need to get a new ball or two. Almost all of my stuff is two years old or older of the balls I use at Arm II.... We were getting a lot of over and under reaction on our pair last night among my other team mates. I was to with other balls, the only one I wasn't as much was my Ricochet Rebound and that ball is 3 years old and has been resurfaced once already.

Arm II was it's normally squirrelly self on Tuesday nights but we managed to pull out 3 games last night. I was high on the pair with a 655 series with games of 245, 216 & 194. Sure hope the shot gets better after the Christmas break.

After a very mediocre showing Monday night with a 642, came back with scores of 290, 226, 178, 694 series last night. (oil carry down was pretty bad by the 3rd game, no matter what I pulled out, couldn't get the 10 pin out...) but we ended up winning 3 last night, which was good.

Also Charlie Falco had a 300 his 3rd game last night for a 715 series. Myself I had 183+222+219=624!! I guess I'm going to have to breakdown and PRACTICE!!!!! I hate that word but I'm tired of bowling 580-620!! It's like if I have a decent night on spare shooting I get to 620-625! Then on the next night I'll miss 1 ten pin out of 4 and then leave a 4-9 or some other pocket split in a crucial situation and bowl 15-20 pins below 600! I honestly can't tell you the last time I bowled a 650+ or a game over 240? If they're going to leave the shot like it is with alot of wet dry i'm going to either have to be happy with my bad bowling or maybe try to go and sub at armadilla 1 on Thursday to get me an extra night of bowling. bom

If they're going to leave the shot like it is with alot of wet dry i'm going to either have to be happy with my bad bowling or maybe try to go and sub at armadilla 1 on Thursday to get me an extra night of bowling. bom The wet/Dry is being caused from Randy and Jimbo strengthening the cleaning solution. The backends and outsides hook a ton during practice and the first game. So this forces everyone inside into the heaviest oiled portion of the lane and oil gets pushed out and down. Usually, by the second game everyone has moved two to 5 boards right, closer to the bone dry doo doo outside. Hit it early, you go high or brooklyn. Play your shot too tight, it won't flip or it's a flat 10 pin... The solution to the problem. Weaken the cleaning solution so the backends and outside are not screaming dry starting off. This will move people to the right and play a shot closer together and wear out and open up the track. Also, Randy needs to speed up the 2nd stage (mid-lane) on the machine so it's putting less oil down after the head run. This will allow the ball to get into a roll, instead of the skid 39 freaken feet, then snap your neck off break on the backends.... and with the increased dilution of the cleaning solution, the outsides won't over react with a small mistake right. The increased ratio on the cleaning solution, now being used is increasing the over/under reaction and the oil is still carrying down fast, because they are still putting out too much oil in the mid lanes.... JMO....

Well i think I might have figured out whats been causing my horrific bowling as of late. I've pitching the ball onto the lane trying to create skid to get the ball down the lane, instead of rolling the ball to the shot. Monday night after starting to set the ball shorter I finally bowled my first 250+ game in over a month and a half, but after my 155 first game only managed a 624 series.. Last night bowling on 3 & 4 I missed the pocket once the first game for 217 once the second game but opened the 9th and 10th by sticking on the approach and flagging a ten in the 9th and fouling in the 10th for a 193 game. Needless to say I was rather pissed off after fouling and was VERY vocal of my displeasure with the approaches and let Jimbo have an earful about it. I guess I'm going to have to go up there on an off day and clean and buff them so they'll get done just like I had to at Diamond. My third game 7 pin spare strike 4 pin spare turkey bad ball 6-7-10 for 145 in the 7th. Smash 7 spare birdog a 10 in the 9th ripping 7 in the 10th spare autof**kingmatic strike on the fill ball for a 205 615 series!!!! AAARRRRRGGGHHH. It seems that no matter what I do or how many times I hit the pocket all night long I can't bust a series over 630. My averages this year are 204 on Monday and 203 on Tuesday. I need to signup for a BEER AND PIZZA League then being drunk and having a full stomach the scores won't matter as much since everybody gets the same prize money. I hate bowling right now!!!!!!!!

Don't know what to tell you Xbom, it's feast or famine at Arm II for me as well..... No night or pair is the same in that place and the lanes changes every game..... Now you know why I have a 6 ball bag and 3 other balls in my truck if I need them..... I shoot 565 Monday night, then come back last night and shoot 711.... There's is no rhyme nor reason to that place, it mostly sucks... My average is around 215 - 216 on Monday nights and I think 217 or 218 on Tuesday night.... That's a far cry from the 232 and 234 I carried last year in those two leagues, so I can feel your pain....

Well, last night was not as good as Monday night as far as scoring, was on a different pair last night and that makes a big difference at Arm II this year. Lanes started off about the same, maybe a board dryer than Monday night but scorable. I threw the ball bad the first game but better my second and third but got little to no carry to show for it. Went 202, 193 and 211 for a 605 series. Was getting oil carry down last night that I wasn't getting Monday night. OH well, we won 3, so that is good, just 1 game out of first and there is five or six teams bunched up at the top with in 2 games of each other. So this quarter is going to be exciting all the way to the end.
