First of all, I must say that the 185 rule is ridiculous. I totally agree. That came from the original rules that were in place before I became secretary and noone has hardly ever mentioned anything about it. Now as for any comments about my attendance at these meetings. 1. I don't set the dates for these meetings. 2. Going to my daughters end of the year school party is far more important to me!!!!!! 3. In my current personal situation, they are the most important and always will be. 4. I don't like missing meetings or any situation about a league I am involved with, but by God I already feel that I let my babies down by not being there for them everyday, I d**n sure am not going to miss something they beg me to go to for a meeting that, if somebody is concerned about, they should be there or get somebody in their place. 5. I was told not to worry about it and that the meetings would be handled. Sorry for going off , but I get sick of hearing or seeing comments about me that I either think are unfair or just come and say something to me. Especially when they are from people I consider to be my friends. Usually there is a good reason for why things happen the way they do. Some need to get the facts first and then if they are still dissatisfied, oh well. But I must say going back to the original reason for this thread, that rule is about stupid. I looked at some old copies of the league rules and it is there. Go figure!!! Roger, My comment about the secretary not being at the meeting was NOT a personal attack at you, but rather, just another factor in the overall scheme of why that crappy rule was still there. As was mentioned by speckledtater, Danna mentioned the rule twice and NOONE challenged it or questioned it... AT ALL. I have always known you to mention rules or circumstances in the meetings that needed to be discussed and/ or reviewed. Being a league secretary and dealing with the paperwork, not to mention the hassles of all the money dealings makes your secretary fee a well earned bit of change. I'm sorry if you thought my take on the meetings was an attack at you, it was not meant to be that... Chicken Little first let me say this!! I quote perfect on this "ANYTIME THERE'S A CHANCE TO SEE A YOUNG MOTHER WHO'S A SINGLE PARENT I WOULD ALWAY'S ATTEND THAT FUNCTION FIRST BEFORE ATTENDING A LEAGUE MEETING" A little action with the opposite sex is more important than outaveraging 90 other guys when you know your going to do that. But a function at the "Y" isn't an everyday occurance so you need to decide what's more important!!!! Possible a$$ or changing a league rule that doesn't concern me because I average 230 in 3 different leagues ;D LOL................. Does that sound like something perfect would say? #nutkick#

Thanks a bunch, David. I have always respected your view of things, especially going way back to that newspaper writer about the 300 vs. 800. Remember that? Anyway, a couple of people just walked by and made a comment or two which got me riled up about the meeting. Sorry I am so, I guess sensitive recently. I don't know if it is from the divorce deal or that I am getting old.....I do appreciate all you do for bowling and especially in our area.... I still can't read anything that guy writes... he could probably hold a conversation with mr. perfect... at least I know he would be impressed with the resume' mr. p likes to spew about at a moments notice...

You might want to re-word your post about his suspected preferences...just in case he see this and sues you for libel or defamation of character...
He is suspected to be what you said in "your opinion"...

One thing we are considering implementing as an Association is a computer training course that league officers could look at, online or whatever and become a little more informed about the requirements etc.
However, the bottom line is most people just don't want to mess with a meeting... as long as they can bowl and buy beer and know how much the league costs... ohhh, and make sure they have ash trays on each table...
And THAT is the shame...

Roger First off, you are a super dad, I have seen it for a long time and you do not need to ever apologize for missing something bowling related for your kiddos - they are first and by the way, you don't have to be there every day to be a great dad. I have seen great dads who do the ultimate with the quality of the time spent with their kids (as you do) and i have seen lousy dads who see their children every single day - so it's not how much, it's how and the quality - always remember that. Also, children sense way more than we do as adults, and children know unhappy people, and it's better for them if we are happy productive parents apart then miserable mean to each other parents together. remember that also.
you are doing a great job, maybe spread a little thin and i think sometimes you are too nice a guy because you are secretary to the leagues that draw the better bowlers, and as i have said before, alot of these better bowlers are the ones who do nothing else and they don't keep up with paying, and they have that, i will earn enough to cover my dues thing going, and so they walk on you. you could assign a committee to be mean, and i could be your president - ha ha ha
you will be fine, you know you are too thin skinned if you ever get offended on this board! especially if me and mr p and Hofer get rolling on each other, that can be down right ugly!!!!!!!!
i hope your leagues are successful - for your sake!

For general information. If anyone needs a sub on this league or the sports league let me know. I'm not bowling this summer, but I would like to bowl a couple of times before nationals.

Week #3 was a great week for "Smooth up-n-ya" went 3 & 1 but after shooting 953 scratch the first game (4 member Teams) and getting beat we came to life with games of 266 by Jack Simmons, 268 by Jeremy Evans, 270 by Dana Simmons and 278 by me Jeff Clark for a 1082 Scratch game and new Pasadena City Mixed 4 person team high game, beat the old record by over 100 pins.. We went on to shoot 970 Scratch the 3rd game and ended up with a 3005 Scratch Series and a new City Record in Series as well beating the old record by approx 340 pins or there abouts.
After doing some checking at bowl.com, 4th all time high for game in the Nation is 1086 for a 3 men 1 women Mixed Team, we were just 4 pins behind that. They only showed the top four in this category. And 5th all-time high in the nation for series is 3020 and we were just 15 pins behind that (they only showed the top 5 in this category). I could not find Texas State Records, maybe one of y'all know where they are online...
Individual Series for our Team last night:
Jack Simmons...... 671 Dana Simmons......741 Jeremy Evans.......780 Jeff Clark.............813 (277, 278, 258)
Needles to say, I swept the brackets and won the eliminator...
It's got to sux for Jeremy and Erik C. Jeremy shoots 780 and Erik goes 793 and don't win a bracket.... tough break guys, I'm sure y'all will get me back next week....lol...

Congrats, Mr P -- it was fun watching you all. 17/18, 19/20 & 21/22 are the "sweet" lanes and there was bunches on strings going on -- I just love watching those lanes! Ironically, you were on the same lanes that Medearis, et al were on when they shot the 2nd high National Mixed 5 member (4 men/1woman) team game.
And a big round of applause to Garland Newmann for his 300 last night!
