So, is it true -- could this week bring us new owners of Diamond?
I certainly hope so -- Pasadena needs two centers.

Hope they have lots of money to spend on the place and have working capital to keep the doors open until they can get some league bowlers back...JMO... If I had the money to purchase a bowling center, I would not buy Diamond. I would build new out off of Fairmont Parkway close to the Deer Park/Pasadena City line... Pasadena does need two centers but Diamond is not the answer in my opinion.... To me, a new center makes more sense if the location is right.... I think off Fairmont Parkway some where would be the correct location...JMO...

So, is it true -- could this week bring us new owners of Diamond? I certainly hope so -- Pasadena needs two centers. Just got off the phone with Eddie Brod and he has confirmed to me that Diamond Lanes has new owners. They purchased it about a week ago. From what I understand, one of them is an owner of Mr. Gatties Pizza, don't know which locations but Eddie reassured me that they have the money to fix up the place and have already fixed the A/C units and have taken inventory to order needed parts to have all the lanes up and running. A new interior paint job has been discussed but may not be changed right away but the ceiling tiles will be. I hear they will be offering some really low lineage rates for leagues and want to run some kind of a Tourn. every month.... These new owners actually sound encouraging to me and the first owners in a long time that will actually have the money and desire to fix Diamond up right....but we will have to wait and see...We've all have heard this before....

This is great news! Thanks for the info, MrP -- I had heard the same thing, but it wasn't confirmed and was hesitant about repeating a "rumor" just yet. But I talked to Jimmy Mac and he spoke with the new owner last night. The equipment and A/C seem to be the first things on the agenda.

I've heard they have already fixed one of the A/C units but there is still one that isn't working and hasn't in a long time. Eddie was told that they were going to buy a new unit to replace that one but he don't know yet when that will happen..... Eddie said it was pretty cool in there last night as it is...

I was contacted by Eddie Brod concerning a "meet and greet" on Monday night.
The new owners are hosting a dinner for the league officers from Diamond and I have been asked to attend to represent our Board.
I am excited about the possibilities represented by the new ownership. Hopefully, the financial fiasco that has haunted Diamond for the last several years will be ended and it can return to being a positive experience for all that bowl there.
On behalf of our Associaiton, when we ran the Mixed State and then our City Championship tournaments there last year, we had lvery little major problems... I rated them easily a 9 out of 10 based on their performance as far as we were concerned.
It doesn't freak me out to walk in and see a pair of lanes down in the middle of our assigned lanes... mechanical problems happen all the time... they may have been constrained on what and how they could manage the machine issues, but now, with a fresh start, things can be fixed and we can move forward.
I'm looking forward to the opportunities for Pasadena's bowlers.

I would also like to piggyback on Mr. President's comments about the new ownership at Diamond. I am looking forward to hopefully a better turnout for GPUSBC events held at both centers. With equipment in better shape, we should have more entries in our tournaments. After lane inspections this past month, Diamond's lanes were very good. After the resurfacing, there is a really good shot out there -- I didn't hear any complaints about the shot (although MrP will probably have something negative to say) or the staff, only about the equipment. I just may go over there next week and throw a few practice shots! (and YES, MrP, I have been known to practice every now and again -- and it STILL doesn't help! )
