Just curious, anyone elses electric bills take a jump to the moon coming up? We've been using balance billing, for the last year it's been at about $550 a month. Now with the new "adjustment" our new avg bill will be right at $1,000 a month. I was doing some reading on various local forums and saw quite a few people talking about their bills doubling next month. Anyone else having it happen?
Also anyone know much about electric bills and all? Overheard my father talking bout multipliers and something bout most houses multiplier for the kilowatt usage = 1, while ours = 10? Anyone know why it'd be a difference from others.

Ours barely gets to a little over $300 in August/ September... with a pool running 12 hours a day, we had an extra Refrigerator in the garage, fans running 24 hours a day and while we have window unit airconditoners, they are the big ones and we keep it cool....

Well it WAS 550, now it's gonna be 989. We only run central a/c 3 months out of the year, 2 fridges / 2 deep freezers / fans 24/7. Nothing really that "eats" electricty though, 3 computers but they don't use up much compared to some things. Suposedly one of the months we used a/c the "Actual" bill was like $1,100.

That doesn't sound right to me Kenneth... you should check into trying to find out why... energy is only like .0013/ Kw or something like that.... MsMullett can shed more light onto the issue, she has attended some seminars and was, maybe still is a rep for an alternate energy company option...

Unless you have a 6000 square foot house, there is no way your bill should be 1100 bucks. I would suspect the duct work in the attic for your central a/c & heat has a hole in it somewhere. A friend of mine had his light bill double and that is what it was. I would call a a/c repairman to come out and inspect. FWIW

G-Man says to look for extension cords running from your house to your neighbors... you have to be supplementing someone elses energy consumption.
I think the Bowling Centers bill run 3,500 to 5,000 per month if I'm close on my guess... there is NO WAY you use 20-30% of the amount of electricity used in the centers...

Ok lets see if I can remember what all they told my dad when he called em. The multiplier is due to our meter only having 4 dials instead of 5, 5's = x1 4's = x1. Our balance bill was right around 500 a month last year, at end of the year we used more then we payed due to the avg billing it seems. So now for 6 months we pay 989 a month to make up the difference in what we owed for last year, after 6 months it'll get re-adjusted again.
Even without the making up for owing from last year we'd be on 780 I think it was balance billing for this year. So I don't see how we use that much electricity, we only run a/c 3 months out of the year. Yeah we have a bigger then average house i'm guessing, 4337 square foot. It was built in the 50's from what I remember. So guessing the wires = old/bad. Ever since my mom passed away I been trying to talk him into just selling this place and finding something more reasonable size wise, we don't need this much space but he don't want to so *shrug*. Thanks for all the input guys, really appreciate it.
