i picked Ozio up at the airport in Reno holding a name sign that just said "Hall of Famer" at the baggage claim, he walked up laughing his a$$ off at it and called me a smart a$$ ... which everyone knows is the truth ;D anyways, he said that the shot at the SASBA tourney was very tough, and he talked very well about everyone that made the finals, saying that shooting good scores on that crap was an accomplishment ... and of course he fails to mention that he won the tourney, that is, until i finally asked him how he and smurf did ... he responds with a ho hum "oh, we won" so i say, well you're supposed to, you are a hall of famer, and he laughingly agreed i'm sure most of you have already read on the USBC tourney page that Ozio shot a 300 - 719 in singles event ... he wasnt really lined up in team, or in doubles, but he finally got a ball that matched the condition in singles and it was only a matter of carry between him shooting a huge score ... he even proved he was human by running out the 12th ball about 5 lanes to the right and giving it the Tiger Woods Fist Pump ... i think he had about 20 lanes of courtesy when he was bowling the 10th frame ... when he was finished he took a picture of the scoreboard with his camera phone, so i hollered from 2 pairs over "hey, you're acting like that was your first honor score ever" and his response was "well it is, at this place" on monday morning, he went with me and my dad to the BJ house ... one of my buddies and i bowled doubles and he bowled the senior singles ... while he did as expected and averaged 230 across 4 pairs ... i struggled to average 180, which i was proud of, considering the alarmingly low number of strikes i got and high number of spares i had to shoot to even bowl that high!!! i shot just over 1600 at nationals, which wasnt too bad considering that my strike percentage for the 9 games was below 25% ... i consistently hit the pocket and consistently left 10 pins or 4 pins or 9 pins ... in team i only had 5 opens and didnt even shoot 520 ... in doubles my partner and i shot 1170 with me hitting high flush every ball in the 3rd game to only shoot 205 or so, i left 2 4-9s, and 2 4 pins, and 1 stone 9 all in that 3rd game ... THE CARRY SUCKED BALL$!!! all in all, i had a great time ... only down $250 for the whole trip, counting gambling, food, bowling, and hotel ... made some good money at the craps table which kept me afloat

Good story whiff... and thanks for the compliment for SASBA... Ozio is a card but is also humble and a class act. I've always enjoyed talking to him and bowling against him.
Wished you could have done better at Nationals but I love to hear more about the lane conditions and where you think I should play them..... or tell me how Ozio played them.... Jimmy Young told me, he had talked to Ozio already and he said the lanes were so slick, he was playing a fallback off 20th board....

in team i never stood right of 30 and never looked right of the 15 board ... by the end of team i had moved to 35 and looking 18, not a big move, but still, never opened up to the right either, just moved left and got tighter as the games went along ... in D/S i started at 31 looking 14, and ended up standing 36 and looking 19 ... i got my Saturn taken down to 1000 grit and i used it the whole tourney ... i never had more than 1 board to the right, no matter how far i moved left or how many games had been bowled ... that is mostly due to my ball speed, some others in my group had 3-4 boards of area to the right, but they threw it slower and had more aggressive balls to play with ... even with the tough tight shot i had to play, i could always get to the pocket, but just couldnt carry ... in team i didnt get a strike until the 9th frame of game 1, didnt get a double until the 10th frame of game 2, and never got a turkey ... in D/S i had the same carry problem, i hit the pocket a bunch each game and my high game for those 6 games was 215 roundabout ... the last game of singles, i shoot less than 150 and i think i still hit the pocket 8 times

Mark Estes I believe is in 11th place in all-Events and he's a SASBA bowler. Jamie Brooks was telling me, he was playing Team straight up the 1 & 2 boards and whacking them pretty good....
Did you see anyone that far outside?
Just looked, he' in 14th now but he shot 2078 AE...
He also shot 675 in Team and that is strong......

my dad tried a few shots outside of 5 both days and it wasnt consistent enough for him to keep playing out there ... playing outside was like walking a tightrope, but instead of a rope, you were walking a strand of dental floss ... i guess if you found a board to hit, and you could hit that same board every shot, then you might be able to play out there ... but the shot wasnt the problem, it was the lack of carry that doomed me and the rest of my team ... we started out with a 1000 the first game with a few breaks on bad shots, but never carried enough to make up for the few bad shots the 2nd and 3rd games ... we ended up with 2800+ as a team, which is higher than we have ever shot before, but we left a lot of pins out there because of the carry
