This weekend, Del-Mar lanes is again hosting the PBA Regional Non-Champions event. Several bowlers from Pasadena are bowling this year. I know of Darren Reeves, Erik Cunningham, myself and I think Charlie Mills are bowling and there may be others that I'm not aware of. This will be only my second Regional since giving up my card in 1987. Good luck to all Pasadena bowlers bowling this event.

I saw on allbowling.com over the weekend that Mills and mr. p had a good tournament at the Del Mar regional... wineudot even posted detailed standings and messages on that site over the weekend... and nothing on either of the Pasadena message boards...
Those 2 appear to have deserted this message board in favor of that one... I can't access that site from work, so I don't know what's been posted over there today...

Below is a link to the final standings of all bowlers. Mills finished 14th for 550.00 I finished 19th for 400.00 Eddie B. just missed the cut by only 9 pins. (Top 31 cashed and came back Sunday) Darren Reeves and Erik Cunningham were back a ways from the cut. pba.com/regional/regionstory.asp?ID=1625

I missed the match play by 21 pins.... threw too many bad shots Sunday and a few Saturday that cost me a total of 100 pins at least. But still relatively happy being it was my first time on this pattern and haven't bowled a Regional in 16 years...

Even though the Cheetah pattern was run for this Tourn. the shot was not easy. The cut to the top 31 was -45... The normal Regional lane man was there Saturday to set the shot. Friday for the Practice and Sweeper, the house person set up the Cheetah pattern. It was a little easier. I was +55 for 4 games and that was with a 172 game and I was first or second out of the cash for the sweeper. Caught a bad pair that got fried during practice but that's the breaks.
Saturday, I was plus my first 7 games but stayed between +35 to +2 bowled a 195 my 8th game, had a 4 bagger going into the 10th frame, I ditched my first ball in the 10th and stoned up a 9 pin on the spare.... that frame alone cost me 42 pins as opposed to striking out like I should have. Remember, I was playing the 1 & 2 board all day and that was the fisrt time I did that.... I couldn't believe it. So instead of being +39 at the end of qualifying, I dropped to -3.... what a retard.....lol...

I can tell you all about bad count and gutter balls and how they can affect your scoring... LOL
I'm not throwing near the number of gutter balls this year as last, but, I can chop EVERY spare... except for most single pins, I just miss those outright... but, you have 4 or 5 chopped spares, and it adds up to 8 -10 a night like that, and that's d**n near 100 pins... every time.

I didn't miss any 10 spares the whole weekend. But did miss a 9 pin, a 7 pin and I think a 4 pin as far as single pin spares. I did miss a couple of other multiple pin spares but all in all, my sparing was much better than many others... My apareing allowed me to make the cut. But I had 3 gutter balls Sunday morning, 2 of which hurt. One was the first frame but spared it....lol... so that was the same as a 10 pin spare....lol... the other two were after spares or a double....
I was just physically and mentally drained Sunday morning. Even though I have bowled this amount of games and more in the SASBA events, mental fatigue was setting in from the difficulty of the shot and having to play the twig so tto say... I just wasn't sharp Sunday morning, like I needed to be...
