Where have they gone? I was amazed this weekend. A gentleman opened the door for a couple and myself. I never heard the couple say “thank you” or acknowledge the man in anyway-shape-or-form. When I said it, you would have thought that the man hadn’t heard it in so long, that he was going to have a heart attack…a sad day in our society.
I bring up this topic because I remember a tradition in bowling to tell the other team that it was fun, great bowling, or something along those lines. During the game, to congradulate the other team for a great shot, or coming through in the pressure situation. Even though we all want to win, where did good sportsmanship go to. I really like watching some of the new teams on Monday. They are really into the bowling, really into enjoying the game, really nice to the other team, and always shake hands at the end of the series. I am not saying that there are no other teams that do that…but it is nice to see a new team do it. I just wish more of the older teams, in every league, remembered it as often and that everyone remembered manners on a more regular basis!
