It was around that time for me 22 or 23. Had to get out on my own, said my dad. He said if you want to come and go as you please, then you have to pay your total way to have that luxury. He was firm and a hard a$$ about it. I know it had to hurt him to do it but he knew it was for my own good to make me grow up..... I did turn out ok. So I have to say it work.....That's why I'm such a firm believer in Tough Love when it comes to kids.... It is easier when you don't have any of your own! I definately agree on that AquaGirl!!! It's very easy to tell your son's friend one thing and then try and be just as hard on your own kid! That's the one thing I've harped at perfect several times and he'll never EVER understand it until he's talking to to his own kid!

I understand what your saying bom....what I've been trying to say, is that parents have to put that feeling aside and do what it takes for the best interest of your children. And to me and no matter how tough it may be, I'd make myself do it. Because if a good decision was made by your children that benefited them for the rest of their life, from us being a hard ass. They will have a better chance of growing up successful. They will realize how right you were and how deeply you truly loved them to try make them see the light and be responsible. Continued coddling and wiping of their a$$ after the age of 21, will not make them grow up. If they don't want to do it on their own, the parents if they love them will make them do it...JMO....
