Oh...Ok, didn't now......that makes sense to me.... I said it was a $3.00 decrease, but actually, it's only $2.50. But presently we get $8.00. next year it will be $5.50... I hope USBC doesn't increase to $10 for next season.. if they do we will be dipping into our balance for sure... I guess we could raffle off something every other month or so... the PWBA raises almost $1,000 every year on the Crown Royal raffles... but, heck, if we raffle every other month... that would really be almost encroachment on the bowlers... they get inundated with enough raffles as it is... we'll just have to tell them this is the benefit of a $13.50 sanction fee.... lol After next year, we'll need to wait to see what USBC does before we decide what our local fees should be. I think most bowlers would rather pay more up front one time, then be bothered every other month on some kind of a raffle or another. At least I know I would.... Add on top of that, Schools selling stuff for Band, Choir, Baseball or whatever..... we may be trying to tap an already exhausted market....JMO....

You could always compensate some of that money your losing with the lower sanction fee's by just NOT doing a participation award. If I had a choice between paying a little less for sanction or getting some "novelty" item i'm never gonna use and usually just throw on the counter when I get home or leave at the table at the alley then I'm gonna choose the cheaper sanction. The towels were actually alright, and alot of people I saw use em and I kept it in my bag as a spare. But if you think about it, how many regular bowlers do you know who don't already have a towel purchased? No offence but you're not gonna replace a actual bowling towel with the little one that was given out. Mouse pads most people would already have one they like. If you are gonna give a award out, come up with something really unique something that alot of bowlers would get use out of. Maybe a pen with the url for the msg board? Or finding somewhere to bulk order some mini calculators since always see people looking for one at end of night.

Or finding somewhere to bulk order some mini calculators since always see people looking for one at end of night. Great idea about the calculator and or pens... I had thought about calculators as well, then remembered that Armadilla has the Qubica scoring and many bowlers don't even write down scores per game anymore, instead, opting to wait for the scoring system to show the recap on the screen at the end of the night... USBC requires that local Associations conduct and awards or recognition program. In the past, the PWBA had "lapel pins" they awarded for scoring achievements. The PBA had decided to award certificates for scoring achievment to members that had not received recognition from ABC. That means if you had a 700, or a Big Four patch or an honor score, and received your award from headquarters, the local Association gave you nothing but its "service" for your $8.00 local sanction fee. I thought this was unacceptable, and proposed 3 years ago to give participation awards to the entire membership. We try keeping the cost of the award to about $1.00. That is 1/8 of your local money going to an award. The towels were about $1.40 or so each... Now, add in Assoc. Sec/ Treas fee which is $1.50 or so per bowler, then the $600 scholarship money donated to YABA, etc. etc., you see the $8.00 doesn't spread too far... The bottom line is, no system of selection is perfect and will satisfy each and every member... that is why a generic, promotional type gift is about all that can be given... If we did away with the awards and instead added $1.00/ member into the City tournaments for each divison, (open/ women), there would be many, and I would estimate 75-80%, that do not bowl the City Tournament and would not benefit from the donation... I don't think reducing sanction fees and doing away with some type recognition program is an option. Sanction fees are reducing by $2.50 for former PBA members next year, and that is already going to cause mass fund raising... But, Orca, you show a little interest and you might find yourself on an awards committee for the new board... lol That'll teach you to have an opinion... lol
