Next year, every Association member will receive a participation award. The last 3 years, it was only PBA sanctioned bowlers that received this award. Koozies, towels and this year, key chains. In an effort to promote our website, www.pasadenabowling.com, I was wondering if mousepads would be a good idea to give out as an award next year? What do you guys think? We could have the Association name/ logo and website printed on the pad.

I am not sure if I have a better answer to that, or I should say, another marketing idea to counter the mousepad, but just something to think about. But free stuff is always nice...that is just the way it is. People always take it...it is just will they use it?

For me, the mouse pad would be great....I don't drink beer, so a koozie is little to no use for me. The towel was ok but was a bit small and thin. The pink lighting key chains were a bit femine if you ask me....lol....For me the mouse pad with our Assoc. logo would be great. I would definately use it.... Great idea PBA....

I realize that most people have a computer, but what about the few bowlers that don't.

I thought about that too... unfortunately, with the way you order these items the more you buy, the cheaper per unit cost... We could order 1/2 Mouse pads and 1/2 of another type award... Another item we were thinking about for this next year is "BAG TAGS". But, with the discussion of promoting the website, and our Association trying to make www.pasadenabowling.com a vital function of the local bowling scene, I thought mouse pads advertising our site would be a good idea....

I had quit a few people say that they would like to see the towels again. It wouldn't be to bad of an idea since we'll have a new logo for next year. Just a thought.

Towels are a good idea also... koozies were a good idea.
I think we were talking about having a revolving system of 4 or 5 items from year to year, and then start over...
So far it's been koozies, towels and now key chains. Bag Tags were mentioned, I thought about mouse pads, the problem is it has to cost right @ $1.00 or we would have to fund raise for it.
With the cost of sanctions going DOWN from $16 to $13.50 next year... we are going to be pressed for money as it is... fund raising will be an active part of Association activity next year... to help meet budget.

Is that Sanction Fee amount of 13.50 set in stone now?....I thought that would be decided after or during the Jan. 14th meeting. We might want to consider a 14.00 or 15 dollar sanction fee amount.....Just a thought as well...

That is what they pay now. It reflects no increase for them, and a 3.00 decrease for PBA members. So, if you are good with budgets you can see we will have approximately $3,000 less than usual to provide scholarships etc for our bowlers... After the first year we can propose an increase and bring it before our delegates. USBC will increase their portion to $10.00 by that time, so we will have to increase to keep up with them... I would envision an increase to $17.00 after the first year... that would approach the same amount as we presently get per bowler locally ($8.00)

I said it was a $3.00 decrease, but actually, it's only $2.50. But presently we get $8.00. next year it will be $5.50... I hope USBC doesn't increase to $10 for next season.. if they do we will be dipping into our balance for sure... I guess we could raffle off something every other month or so... the PWBA raises almost $1,000 every year on the Crown Royal raffles... but, heck, if we raffle every other month... that would really be almost encroachment on the bowlers... they get inundated with enough raffles as it is... we'll just have to tell them this is the benefit of a $13.50 sanction fee.... lol
