Just thought I would let yall know that my youth bowlers may be giving yall a run for you money one day (of course then you can just say you are too old, because it will be a while). I had 5 boys set over 200 averages this Saturday, from 221 to 203 (of course my son had to be the lowest 200). I have 95 youths registered at Armadilla 1. It was crazy Saturday, then I go to a marathon meeting! Hopefully it will be a good year. That some good youth bowlers and congrats to your son. But I would consider you talking with Danna and see if she will put out that Junior Gold Pattern we had the last half of the Sport League to help them develop their game for some extra practice (not in league)....I'm sure at some point, at the bigger Tourns., they could run across that pattern or another much tougher shot than Arm I's normal house shot. They need to learn different shots other than throwing the ball anywhere outside of 2nd arrow and striking...JMO... We have several youths that have been bowling in tournaments that have this shot out. My goal is to have monthly singles tournaments for them on the jr gold shot and then have a final at the end of league that all the previous winners bowl and have a annual winner. For practice it is hard to put that out but we may could schedule this also, I am sure Danna will work with us. We had it out for the summer league and you can already tell the improvement it has made for some of them. Jason Valencia's daughter set the high girl average of 157. I expect that to go up, she throws the ball well. Sean Lavery was high for the boys with a 221. I separated the competition by age/skill this year. That way it is more competitive for the younger/less experienced bowlers. I am looking forward to a good year.

They bowled their summer Mutt and Jeff League on the Jr. Gold pattern. And how did they average on that shot?.....just curious... They didn't average very well, but it brought some back to earth and made them realize they had things to work on and are doing that.

The shot during the sport league brought alot of people out of the clouds and down to reality. I averaged 197 the 2nd half, so i was very pleased about that. It made people have to spare more, which is something alot of high average bowlers are not used to doing. You could tell a huge difference in who could and who couldn't spare...lol. Just look at the averages.

Just look at the averages. The averages went down mostly because the striking went down but many spares became much harder than on a regular shot. For many, they realized that they had to be as accurate on their spare shots (and play the right portion of the lane) as their strike shots.....An easy shot can hide a multitude of problems within a persons game... I did pretty good on that Gold Pattern as well for the 4 weeks I bowled on it....214. something and with a 205 for all 6 weeks I subbed in the league.

We are planning on going to Nationals earlier next year (before summer leagues start)..... But I did have high average in this league the summer before....I did bowl 6 out of 12 weeks in the league this year (2 the first half and 4 the 2nd half)...granted the 1st half shot was harder but I'm sure I would have still been around 200 to 205 if I would have bowled all 12 weeks..... either Mills or I would have had high average in the league....

I shot well last night at AMF Diamond until I ran out of energy the 3rd game. Went 239, 267, 188, 694. Had the front 8 the 2nd game. I decided to throw my 15 lbs. Messenger and it was rolling and hitting real well, but about the 3rd frame of the 3rd game, I could no longer keep the speed on the ball and fought it the rest of the game instead of changing back to a 14lbs ball. Oh well, we won 3. I'm still trying to move back up to some 15lbs equipment is why I threw the ball last night.

There's no way you lose hitting power with the equipment that is out these days... and you could throw the more aggressive coverstocks longer if you were able to keep your speed up longer. I know my LH stuff is 14#. Hey, talk to John Jerkins, he throws 14# and he may have some older equipment that you could negotiate for... maybe exchange some babysitting for bowling balls...

Deal or No Deal starts back up tonight was the reason I said something about it.
