Was just emailing with my SASBA Doubles partner (CJ Johnson) he's sent me SASBA's 2007 Schedule and they have cut the amount of overall Tourns. for 2007 from around 30 a year to 21 tourns. for 2007 season. There are several reasons why according to CJ but the only one he would go into was, so they would get more entries for the ones that they do have. They are now only having (2) M/G tourns. in 2007... in January at Crossroads Lanes in Beaumont and Dynamic Lanes in Houston, that one is in April. This bites...lol...
Makes me wonder if the Generations Bowling Tour is making an impact on SASBA tourns. But I think mainly they are losing bowlers because not enough money is being returned to the bowlers and not paying off higher amounts when the entries are higher. But who knows, CJ would not go into any further detail that what he said.
Just wanted to throw this out there for speculation and conversation to whom ever wishes to make a comment...

I guess you will just have to get to 50 asap so you don't have to worry about the M/G tourneys...lol. BTW, how many M/G tourneys did they cut out this year?

In 2006 they had 3 - M/G stops and 1- Super Senior/Guest stop. It appears they cut the one M/G in Fort Worth @ City View and the SS/G in San Antonio....

I talked to an ex member of SASBA a while back and he told me he got a letter from Jamie Brooks inviting him back to bowl some SASBA events. Apparently membership has been declining for sometime according to him. I honestly don't know that much about the Generations Tournament but personally I think membership is declining because 50 to 60 year old men are still in the workforce. Having to pay bills and work to make a living has a lot to do with declining entries. Also I feel the age group of bowlers is in a stagnet area. Just as the declining membership in Senior Leagues. The ones who have been in the leagues for years are either unable to bowl for health reasons or according to some I've heard say "There dying off faster than they're being replaced" perfect look at the ages of the top bowlers in the city. the 45-49 age group in the city is astounding. I see SASBA entries declining for about 4 to 5 years then the next group of seniors will emerge and entries will go back up. JMO

I also think that Jamie was getting a bit aggressive in his stops per year and it was diluting his entries on many of his stops. Also, if there isn't enough bowlers making money and losing money because of David Ozio types bowling these events. This can steer away new members, feeling they can't compete after bowling a few stops or just after one year.....just another possibility...

A lot of the SASBA bowlers are good but were never on tour for whatever reason and bowling against an ex tour player on a house shot is like giving candy to a baby #baby#
