Yep we pretty much got run over last night, we just got out bowled. I didnt think the shot was to bad but thats just me, had games of 18?,22?,258 for a 663 series. I think the lanes were hooking so much for perfect because his ball speed was in the 13 mph range lol. Might want to drop weight and see if you can get that speed back up to 14.5 mph jeff.

I remember when they first put the scoring system with the mph I think I was between 10 and 11 mph. Mike laughed at me, therefore my speed is up to 14.5 and even some 15 mph last night! Plus I did go from 15 to 14 lb balls.

My 1st ball speed last night was 14.17 MPH.... That is Weak.... Thats not too bad, ive seen alot lower and yours will pick up some once you find your leverage point. Ball speed is overated, just stay with in your natural comfort zone and build from there. I think mine is around 16.5 to 17.5 mph, not fast and not slow, just right for me.

Um maybe when you started it might have been but I seen a few close to 14mph later on in the night and im not talking about your spare ball speed.

When we took the Storm clinic with Donna Conners and "Stormin" Norman the said anything over 17 mph is overkill. You aren't letting the ball work for you.

Um maybe when you started it might have been but I seen a few close to 14mph later on in the night and im not talking about your spare ball speed. When the lanes are dryer, everyones ball speed is lower. My normal ball speed now is 15.9 to 16.2 I'm sure on a few balls that got too far out into the dry dropped down into the low 15's and maybe upper 14's. But the difference of that is the dryness of the lanes not the amount of energy expended by me to throw the ball. The amount of effort to throw a ball 16 mph in dry as opposed to on oiler conditions is tremendously more.

Why did I always think you wanted to pick your speed up for drier lanes? Be more aggressive.

On the bright side I did have a pretty decent night... on a 191 average from last year, I had 192, 211 175 for a 578. The last game I didn't move left like I should have and had 2 big splits and missed a 4-7..... I missed a 3-6-10 and another 7 pin for my only opens for the night. No messed up first shots.... lofted a couple about 20 feet out on the lane, but, that was due to the decreased ball weight and trying to get used to it. I think my slow speed is due to trying not to overthrow the ball and trying to relax and bowl........ my new mantra this year is to not put pressure on myself and re-learn the game....
I am going to have to learn with dealing with discomfort in my arm and knee..... it sucks to be injured..... I will have to adapt my game to my physical deficiencies.....

well when the lanes get drier my ball speed increases. it usualy gets up to 18mph but its because my swing gets alot loser and I am able to relax through the ball alot more with more area down the lane.
I agree that any thing above 17 is a waste also. But I have never been one to throw the ball fast unless I was shooting at spares, I use to throw at my spares around 26-28 mph but I have hit a few monitors with the high back swing and decided not to do it any more lol. I think at conroe, pearland and there was one other place where I use to hit them at but cant remember where that I use to always hit them. It was more to show off more than anything else, so it wasnt that big a deal for me to stop.
David hang in there and give the new weight a chance, it does take a little getting use to but youll adapt to it. I got me 2 new balls last night one of wich is 14.00#'s even lol. I hope they work out for me. Ever time I drill myself a new ball I seem to have bad luck with them.

Meaning, you have to throw the ball harder to keep the same speed down the lane. This is because of higher friction from less oil. The ball actually rolls instead of skidding, rolling is slower than skidding.... This is not an opinion, this is a fact..... ;D
