i was wondering about the sport league "shot" will there be any practice sessions on the oil patterns available for those who wish to practice and fine tune their bowling equipment?

i was wondering about the sport league "shot" will there be any practice sessions on the oil patterns available for those who wish to practice and fine tune their bowling equipment? I would seriously doubt it...you would have to know the two patterns we are going to use and have a house that would be willing to put one of those shots down. Since the shots are not condusive to your average bowler bowling well, I doubt you will find a house that is willing to put it down without a league actually needing it.

the sport shot could be better than the normal "dont run the lanes on the weekend shot". and it could help protect the lanes considering there is oil used in the patterns.

18 teams!! Good turnout!!! 54 bowlers. How many are going to average 200 or less??? Probably 50 if not more!!!!!!!!! Perfect makes this NEW league! 1st time a sport league is held in Pasadena $20 a night! Let's make the prize fund worth bowling for!! If I had not committed to bowling with Jeremy and Paula I would have walked out of the meeting and not bowled! I for one just bowled 20 weeks at Demon under adverse and changing conditions weekly! And did not enjoy it at all. so now I get to bowl a sport shot league where I'm not going to average anywhere close to a house average and BONUS I get to pay $20 a week doing it! Perfect thanks for taking the learning aspect out of this league and making it a BLOOD AND GUTS league that is going to cost every member $249 to bowl! Not only do you have to buy a special sanction card to bowl a Sports League you tried and make it a money league as well. I for one did not bowl this league to make money it was solely as a learning experience to try and get back some of the bowling knowledge I had forgotten over the years of bowling on CAKE shots! Now my team is going to have to finish in the top 3 or 4 places to get back anywhere close to the half our money back in league fees!! Perfect HELLO is anybody home!! Summer leagues are to short for enough money to be put in the prize fund to make it worthwhile to try and build a prize fund! I'm glad your dumb enough to realize this. I've already said tonight that if this league goes again next summer and it's $20 I will not bowl. I'm doing this as a learning experience! Not a money making venture! Rag me if you want but $20 may not be alot to you but for some bowlers in that league $249 for a summer league is alot of money! The next league Perfect bowls someone tell him the wrong date for the meeting so it will run smoothly! He was asking questions tonight when they were tring to call order for the meeting to start! By the way thanks again Perfect for making the Pasadena Sport League fun for me this summer. Now it's a money making venture and you can't make money in only 12 weeks. 18 teams 2 position rounds weeks 6 and 12. Not even going to be able to bowl each team one time. Boy o Boy I can't wait for these next 12 weeks!

I wanted first to thank the house for putting out the shots that we will see and allowing us to practice on the lanes. I liked all the shots, and loved watching all the great bowlers throw gutters, miss spares, and find hitting the strike a lot more difficult. I am truly looking forward to bowling a league where spares really matter, accuracy counts, learning to adjust as the oil moves is important, and averages are real!
Having said that, BOM and I chatted a little last night and I think that anyone that considers themselves to be a good bowler should set the goal at 190 for the average. I would love to beat that goal and that is what I am looking to do. With PERFECT as a team mate, I think I really want to beat him, but I will admit he does throw the ball well.
As for the $20 a night...it is only a 12 week league. That means if the $18 would have been voted in you really only saved 24 dollars. 249 vs. 225. Either way it was going to be in the $200's. I do understand the point though that it is a summer league and this is the first year. I think if you make it $20 this year the only teams that should see any profit should be 1st and 2nd with every team getting money back or base it on points. The point of this is to get excitement going about the league and get people interested in bowling a league that actually makes bowling a real sport! I hope this league goes well and that they are even able to look into the fall for a league of this sort.
I agree with all the rules we voted in, and as much as I like the petterson point system, I agree that we should keep it simple the first year or so...what I would really like to see is the league grow to allow 4 member teams with the petterson point system like they use in YABA Travel League. It is a great format that really allows for a lot of interesting matchups.
Having said all this...good luck to everyone and I hope everyone enjoys the league. Thanks to JH for getting everything set up, the center for running the shot, and Rusty for running the tapes!

If I hadn't had brought it up, someone else would have... Get over it bom... And since when has a different opinion mean being an idiot? I guess only when he or they are jealous.... I'm not the one coming on here complaining about anything or dogging anyone......Usually when people call other people names or dog them, they are just trying to cover up some of their own short comings...JMO...

I'm not the one coming on here complaining about anything or dogging anyone......Usually when people call other people names or dog them, they are just trying to cover up some of their own short comings...JMO... Actualy there was more to be said about the league expense but idiots kept interupting the meeting and then there were some who insisted on trying to speed it up by seconding every motion put on the floor. Hickey never got to say what he wanted because there was very little order in the meeting and to many outburst. I would have like to of seen 15-16 dollars a night but we never got a chance to bring it up, WHY? Because of the village idiots! Next time one team representitve only should be allowed. Extra votes arent fair and shouldnt be counted. So anyways the shots they put out were descent, Ive bowled on alot harder. I did notice they broke down fast and true to a normal sport shot. The long oil shot still had to much movement to be a true long oil shot, There was area to be had and yes there was still bounce if you played the shot deep enough and bounced 11-10. 9-6 seemed flat and 6 out was a grave yard that you had to square up to play with out the ball falling in the channel. The patterns werent as equipment specific as I had thought they would be. I was able to use either of the 2 balls I had brought with me with success. I think it will get a little tougher as it goes though because of the human/weather/machine/striper and oil varibles will vary a little witch equals large contrast from week to week on sport shots. I am hopeing for 170-180 average with the limited amount of bowling I am doing now. See you peeps there next week.

Thanks for the compliment Aqua and your right, you and anyone else will have their work cut out for them to out average me in this league or anyother...lol.... It's been done before though and on more than one occasion but I have earned the right to say that I am always a strong contender for high average in any league I bowl in.... ;D Honestly, I have set my personal goal to be 205 to 210 in average in this league...
