Props go out to the Perfect one last night for his "stone 9" 299 game. The first honor score in our Pasadena Sport League. I watched him throw a few shots and it looked like he had quite a bit of room to work with on the lane. Even Erik was playing an outside line where it would be out of bounds on our pair. On another note, We won 1 1/2 games last night. Shot 192, 196, 200 = 588 and an ending average of 185. Better than I thought it would be after the start I had this summer. I enjoyed learning how to bowl again, even with hand-me-down equipment. Had my speed up to 15.5 to 15.7 last night which is alot better than the 13.5 at the beginning of the summer. Hopefully this fall will be the start of a good comeback for me and that I don't have any major setbacks. Thanks, Wine... but I don't know about that quite a bite of room part, trust me, we still had to be accurate on our pair. We only made them look easier because we are that good..... ;D... but the shot on our pair did get better the last game compared to the first two, at least for me. When you have better bowlers on a pair playing similar lines, a shot can be opened up a little bit..... And Erik was playing straight up the boards from the outside that last game, if he or anyone was in further with his feet and sent the ball out there, it would not have come back, trust me. Also, Erik has been throwing the ball great lately, I didn't until the third game...lol... but when your throwing it good, you can create a little more area than those that are not. Our team does have the 1st, 2nd and 4th highest averages in the league... (if you count mine for only a 1/2 season)... And we had those averages because we are the better bowlers in the league because accuracy is suppose to mean something in bowling..... #nsrtrts_104# ..... #pokewithstick# ....lol... No perfect the lanes had to be easier last night!!!!!!!!!! I hear Josh Sanders had a 570? series last night on his 120 something average and he is the epitomy of accuracy. I bowled the last 5 weeks of the league and last night was the easiest the lanes had been for me the whole time. So I don't think superior talent is the key here the lanes were just easy last night compared to what they had been JMO

You know, this is what I have been referring to about how you (mr. p) are... a simple THANKS would have sufficed, but you had to add a thesis on averages, accuracy and the superior abilities of you and your teammates... It just doesn't read good... Let your accomplishments speak for themselves without the documentary... You have every right to cherish that 299 as one of the highlights of your career, but, what most people want you to do is cherish it, and enjoy your accomplishment with a sense of humilty and accomplishment, not as an opportunity to break down and analyze your superior abilities and take the opportunity to speak down to the "little bowlers". Sorry, but that's my take. I fully congratulate you on your accomplishment. Others might not be able to... you won't let them. I was only responding to the comment that wine made about our pair somehow being easier than his or anyone elses, by him saying I had "quite a bit of area"... and Erik being able to play outside.... I took that as a slight against our bowling and ability and needed to be challenged and corrected... Some people could read wine's statements to read that we had some house shot out there and that was the only reason I did what I did..... I wasn't going to let that go unchallenged... How come I'm being perceived as the bad guy, when I was only defending my accomplishment..... why can't wine's comment be seen as being out of line?

Was just checking out the USBC Sport bowling awards, they give out Crystal bowling pins for 800 Series and 300 games, if I would have carried that 9 pin, I think I would have gotten that or maybe the ring, but that pin looks sharp...... They also have listed the top 50 games of the 05-06 season in Sport leagues across the USA. According to the list, there has only been 10-300 games shot this year and 2-299 games, mine will make the 3rd once they list it.......I knew the Sport shot was tough, but I didn't think there were that few of honor scores overall.... That doesn't seem like very many Honor scores for the entire season.. I wonder if it's supposed to be 06-07 season which just started?

They have an 06-07 link already on the site, but no names are listed I guess, since the 06-07 season hasn't started yet... I'm guessing... or if it has stated, my 299 could be the first one listed for the 06-07 season... If they use Augaust 1st as the start date of leagues. I know it is as far as awards, but I don't know what season they call the month August?... But they also said, that only the scores that are reported through the League Secretary software that reports league information to USBC, like what Roger does, are the only scores that are posted. If they don't send their league results up each week like Roger does, then they don't know about them and not posted... So, there very well could be more scores.......but if USBC don't know about it, it's like it never happened as far as that list is concerned.... But I doubt there are very many (if any) Sport Leagues not reporting, I would assume the bowlers in the league would insist it be done...JMO....

Well, I would consider Wine's comments as his opinion of the shot your pair had... even Mills said the lanes are so different from pair to pair it's hard to get a read of who has what shot... I just don't see why you consider everything a "challenge" that needs to be confronted and rectified to your satisfaction. You could have just replied that he (Wine) knows it wasn't that easy, and left it at that... I will admit though, I would be hoping the tapes pass USBC approval...

I knew that but is August considered part of the 05-06 season or 06-07 as far as that list of high scores is concerned? That is what I was wondering..... Well, maybe I overreacted to wine's post.... but he wasn't on our pair, so he don't know what we had and shouldn't be making assumptions...... Rusty Davis was on our pair, he's a Pasadena Hall of Famer and a good bowler, Charley Mills is a great bowler and will be a Hall of Famer soon I'm sure, probably before me...lol..and our new City Record holder Erik C....and I guarantee you, if our pair was so easy, Mills, Erik and Rusty would have been shooting more that what they did....... I had one really good game with a new ball, which helped a lot....With it not having a track, it helped in getting the ball down the lane and not having oil soaked in it, help it finish and carry better....by the way, I love that Hammer Doom...lol... I guess that goes without saying...lol...

I can handle that most of the time, beside, I expect to get picked on, since I dish a lot of it out...lol...... I don't know about the jealous part on some of those other items? Wine has good bowling talent as well, he is an accomplished bowler...... but at least I do have hair to cut....lol... You sounded more like you were describing Xbom than you were describing wine....IMO...lol... #pokewithstick# ...J/K Jimmy...lol..

Great Game Jeff.....sorry I missed it. On a brighter side...OUR team DID win the league by 5 games. My team mates held me up last night in my absence. I actually bowled just average the second pattern and TOM and John both came up the second half. Enjoyed the league and we will try to have more teams and going's on next summer.

James I think the handicap may need to be adjusted in that league a little. Given a condition that promotes the cream rising to the top, a low % of handicap only gives those bowlers MORE of an advantage. I'm not saying the best bowlers aren't supposed to win, especially in a sport league, but, looking at the lineup of teams last night, it was very easy to see the teams were also line up not just on wins and losses, but also based on ability and averages...

I mean, what was suppose to happen did happen.... so it sounds like the system is working to me.... I think we should leave it like it is..... the shot is the equalizer in my opinion...

Well, as long as you can promote this Sport League to bowlers as an individual test of their abilities, and not as a team competition in which they are guaranteed to lose, I guess you have the system set up perfectly. Why not institute an average max where the 1st, 2nd and 4th highest average in the league cannot fit on the same team. That might bring some parity to the game. I know you will never be able to relate to the concept of equality among competition... you are a proponent of the USBC Open Championships which probably provides lower average bowlers the worst chance of competing and winning as of any tournament in the world.
