There will be a Scratch Tourn. at Diamond on Feb. 18th & 19th. It's called the Mid-Life Bowlers Tour and it's presented by Brunswick. Jimmy Young and Kirk Harper are running this Tourn. and may be the founders of this new bowling club so to say but I don't know for sure.
It's open to bowlers 35 to 49 years of age only. Entry Fee is 160.00 for this event. Membership fees are 20.00 per year...
There's a 10 game Qualifying on Saturday and an 8 game Match play finals on Sunday. They're website is mlbaonline.com for more details or you can call Jimmy Young at 832-771-8066 or Kirk Harper at 832-264-3800
I don't know the cash Ratio as of yet or how many make it to the finals, I guess it depends on how many entries there are but they are guaranteeing 1,000.00 for 1st place.

Ok, I just checked out the website and the cash ratio will be 1 in 3 will cash...and in most cases that will be how many will make the finals.
Membership dues are 30.00 for the first year, then it's 20.00 to renew according to the site but the flyer I have says it's only 20.00 bucks.... so there may have been some changes....
Also, each tourn. will have a Calcutta on all the bowlers.
There will also be Brackets, Big Boards and High Game pots....
This Assoc. is similar to SASBA and works in conjunction with SASBA, meaning that this Assoc. will have some Members/Guest Tourns but the Guests must be current SASBA Members.........
This is great, I love it, I will be bowling as many of these as I can..... There is a partial schedule posted on the Website already.....

The first tournament is on a bad day. The Hall of Fame banquet is the same day and I don't know if they will be able to finish the 10 game block and still have time to get ready for the banquet...lol.

I doubt very seriously that the Hall of Fame Banquet will keep very many entries away..... The only bowlers I can think of that it will effect would be me and Eddie Brod. Of coarse Eddie will be at the Banquet, I will just have to be late..... This Tourn. "WILL" attract PBA Regional players and a lot of Houston talent.... I'm sure Charlie Mills and Charley Falco will bowl as well as me, Erik Cunningham, Mark Laurecente (Smurf), Mike Austin, James Long Jr., Jimbo Evans and many other top level Tourn. bowlers....

Besides, what other current board members other than me, do you think will be bowling this?...There are some that are capable to compete, but probably won't have the money....such as Darren and Jimmy F., Rusty D. and you if you were back at 100% health and had the money to invest.

Sounds like some gay attempt to attract bowlers who are not old enough to bowl sasba but are to old to compete with the younger guys me not being one of them but maybe others. Why in the world is the age limit set to 35? why not 30? None the less I hope the tourney survives a few years.

I don't know why they picked that age group but just because your not 35 yet is the only reason your biatching...lol... Now, if it were based off of, if you look 35 or older, you would be a shoe-in.... hell, I even have more hair than you...lol..... I guess they don't feel your Mid-Life until your 35.....30 is just not quite there yet...JMO....lol...

so..let's see...you bowl 18 games for 1000.00. Entry is 160.00, plus 30.00 dues...1 in 3 make money... lot of bowling for only a grand first..then maybe 500.00 second? Calcutta will add more money..don't count on attracting too many elite bowlers..will be the same ones who show up for the monthly thing that Diamond used to run....

In that case im suprised they dont let you bowl sasba lol, you know you look older than I do and you definately look plenty old enough to be a super senior in sasba. As far as my hair goes atleast I know when to get it cut and whats in style, I was wondering for a while if you were trying to bring back the awsome 70's hair with the fro you were sporting for a while. Glad to see you get it cut finaly, now I can actualy see whats going on out on the lanes with out haveing to look around that afro of yours. But i am very excited to finaly win a game let alone 4 and a sweep. i just wish they would do something about that shot breaking down so fast, at least go to a higher viscousity oil. The heads and midlane should not break down that fast and every week it is a different break down charecteristic, I have been struggling keeping up with the transition all season, when I bowled during the summer there I didnt have any trouble at all.

Jimmy Young has a lot of connections with the Guests that bowl SASBA as guests in their Tourns. Plus, he bowls the PBA Regional Events as well....I'm sure he will get bowlers to come from all over the state to bowl this.
I would not be surprised if he got 60 and more entries for this very first event....
