That is a possibility but I'm thinking our age group is usually a little better off financially, than let's say an age group from 20 to 34....I'm thinking our age group will come out and bowl the local stops but will be less likely to travel out of state due to family concerns for many of them. Where the Seniors, don't have that problem as much and like the traveling more. Jimmy Young did say that many people will be closely looking at this Tourn. for turn out, such as ball manufacturers and such... I'm hoping this takes off, because I do enjoy bowling the SASBA's, so this will hold me over so to say, until I do reach 50....lol... Well Captain Obvious, since this tournament only allows 35-49, and SASBA is 50 and over, I guess you would only bowl these tournaments until you were 50.... duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh #doh# #doh# #doh# I can still bowl the Member/Guest Tourn. in SASBA, as long as a Senior will want me as a partner.....lol...

Well, I hate to continuously poo-poo a tournament organization when it is first starting out and needing time to establish, but, with a $20 or $30 membership fee depending on what the resolution is based on different listings on different locations, the next closest tournament is in Fort Worth like in July, and if you want to bowl more tournaments you have to go to Oklahoma or Arkansas.... a minimum of 6-8 hours of driving... and then it's September already... and then pay another membership fee next February, and with a tournament only every other month at best... it seems like they will really have to run a sweet tournament to make it worthwhile....

Now, after having focused on the negatives, let's look at the positives...
There really is no other similarly formatted tournament... the SASBA format is successful and the "guest" tournamnets they run are popular... if the age group of bowlers supports this with the same intensity as the seniors then it should succeed.
Personally, if I was still bowling decently, I would consider bowling... but, alas, that is not a reality...
Maybe they plan on filling out there schedule based on participation levels... and SASBA only comes to the Houston area a few times a year, so, maybe they plan on adding stops close by...
As I said, if the Hall of Fame Banquet was not that same day, I would have runbrackets for them...

True, but Jimmy has added AMF Alpha and Angleton to the stops. They are not listed yet, because I think the dates of those two are not nailed down. I do hope that more are added, at least to the point of 1 a month, in driving distance for me...... A drive to Beaumont or Dallas and San Antonio is no big deal for me. I won't drive to Oklahoma and probably not Arkansas, but if I can get one of my brother's free frequent flier mile tickets, I might make one of those.... At least this is something, it's better than what we have now for our age group. Jimmy and Kirk have invested a lot of money to try and have this work and I personally hope it does. It's no wonder bowling participation is on the decline, too many bowlers are being negative over too many things, biatch over one thing or another....lol... Not enough payout, too much cost for entry fee, not enough stops...This is just starting up, what do people expect?

But, to hear you complain about people being negative is TOOOOOOOOOO FUNNNNNNNNNY... You made an art out of whining and complaining... lol

Well the first Tourn. was a disappointment as far as number of entries...(8)...but they were a tough 8 bowlers....Jimmy and Kirk still paid 3 spots...800.00, 400.00 and 200.00 I think for 3rd but not sure. The bowlers voted and approved the lessening of 1st place. The Calcutta paid 300, 150 and 75.00 I think...
I did pretty good, finished 1st with +372 for 10 games. Moved from 4th to first in the last 3 games shooting 290, 234 and 255 over taking Mark Busher that had the lead going into the last game. Had a great time, can't wait until the next one.

Well, I'm sorry to hear about the poor turnout... but, most people are hesitant about new tournaments until they are established.
Hopefully, things will grow for future events.

I was also talking to Mills and Falco at the banquet, they felt the 1st place of only a 1,000.00 was a bit weak for a 160.00 entry fee. This may have kept some other bowlers away as well.... I know it did those two and Erik C's backer.

How was the support from the DIamond bowlers?

How was the support from the DIamond bowlers? Manny Garcia bowled but he was the only one from Diamond. Darrel Coats was there and the Lawrence brothers (lefty and righty) can't remember there first names... Rick I think was one, can't remember the other. Also, can't remember the guys name that finished second.

I don't think they're related. Entries. Jeff Clark Manny Garcia Rick L Robert L Darrel Coats Mark B. That means only 2 other bowlers entered. #crashburn_fou# Perfect with your vast SASBA experience you can't jog your memory enough to remember just 2 peoples name #nutkick#

I'd never seen either one of them before, take that back, I did see one of them before at a SASBA. James something, he's African American.... and it wasn't James Browning, I know him.... the other was African american as well, never seen him before but Jimmy Young knew him. He was heavy set and left handed...
No, these Lawrence's were brothers and bowl Regionals. But it's not those two you were talking about. I know Robert Lawrence and Rick Lawrence is Jimmy's boss for Brunswick...These two were friends of Darrell's both were blonde to light brown hair. I think the two Lawrence your thinking about are dark headed.
