special features?...what's that?[/quote]
When you sign in next week, they will ask you if you want to get into special features for $2 (per event)......... $1 goes to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the other $1 goes into a "most pins over average" pot for game two of each event.

It's a most pins over average thing I never get in....lol.... I'm at the most disadvantaged of winning that since I have one of the highest averages in Pasadena...lol.... My last years average was 231 and with a 300 game, I can only be 69 pins over my average and I doubt very seriously that would be enough to win.......I have no chance of winning that and would be donating my money if I tried.....I'll have to pass on that..... Is this something that came out of the Women's Assoc.?

I don't know what the over was, but I was 55 over average for that game.

If so, the Assoc. needs to re-think this, since most of the entries in the Open Championship is Division I bowlers. Make it a high game pot for the 2nd game and handicap it 90% of 210 or even 220 and make a score of 300 with or without handicap as the highest score possible. I think you would get more entries that way in the Open Tourn. that is dominated by Div. I bowlers...JMO...

2nd Squad Singles yesterday, someone won it with 30 pins over average.............so you never know. Stormy didn't get in, and she probably would have won it.
You also have to remember, this is a DONATION for the breast cancer foundation. We are not talking about a lot of money, but sometimes it is just fun and it is going for a worthy cause.

You also have to remember, this is a DONATION for the breast cancer foundation. We are not talking about a lot of money, but sometimes it is just fun and it is going for a worthy cause. Between, Girl Scout Cookies, donations to bowler funds for those who have died of cancer with no insurance and whatever else we get hammered with at the bowling alley, at work, and at home these days......I'm about donation-ed out....lol.... I've already got 96.00 dollars invested in City Tourn. not counting the side pots I'll be getting in......but part of the attraction of this, is the possibility of winning some money for what we're putting up..... if you want it to be a donation, just ask for a dollar from us at the side pot table and see what you get.....This is something that the Assoc. is running and is asking for a 2.00 dollar entry, which the Assoc. rightfully so, is telling us that 1/2 the pot is going to Breast cancer, which is fine, it's a good cause. The objective is to get as many entries as you can, and if more people would get in on something like what I suggested, then the Assoc. should do it......create desire for us to donate, don't just ask for handouts....JMO.... Sure 2.00 bucks in not a lot of money, it's just the principal of the thing to me....

I meant the winnings is not a lot of money. and yes, it is a donation, but the CHOICE is yours not to participate. Nobody cares WHO gets in or doesn't get in. Again, it is done for the fun of it.
Everyone knows you will need that $2 to get into 15+ brackets.................. if there are that many. We didn't even have brackets for the last squad in doubles & singles.
Mrs. Doctor's rate of return on her $4 donation will probably be MUCH larger than yours in brackets.

You could be right but there will be a lot of top bowlers bowling this next weekend and some of the same ones from the first weekend..... So I doubt there will be no brackets in the 1st Squad of Team and of D & S...... but I could be wrong..... I'm not saying y'all shouldn't do it, but if my suggestion could generate more money for Breast cancer, shouldn't it be done?..... Now, I think a POA is a good thing for the Women's City Tourn., I just don't think it's the best thing for the Open (Men's ) City Toun. that's dominated by Div. I bowlers....

Not everyone gets into a tournament with the intent of getting into brackets.
You have your option of entering a most pins over average contest or not. Please spare us the report of what your average is and how you can only bowl so many pins over and how high it is.
We were wanting, as an Association, to donate money to the "Bowl for the Cure" program which has contributede millions of bowler's dollars to the Susan G Komen foundation for breast cancer research.
This "pins over average" contest format was originated from the women's tournaments, and was also conducted by the Mixed State tournament.
The participation rate has been well over 90- 95%.
It is optional. Some donate more, some don't participate at all. Some do whatever it is they do without comment.

Y'all are getting 90 to 95 % participation from the Pasadena Bowlers this first weekend? I was only trying to be helpful and think of a way to get more participation....I really doubt that 90 to 95% of the bowlers from last weekend, entered in this. I could see that in Mixed State....

1st squad Saturday Team Event, 14 teams x 4= 56 bowlers... 54 bowlers entered. 96.428%
Sunday, first set singles and doubles may have been a little less, but it was $4 entry for 2 events. I did not hear the winners amounts.
The 2nd set was 13 bowlers bowling singles, and 11 were in the event. 11/13= 84.6%
I think based on these numbers that a 90% estimate is a safe assumption to make.

I would agree and since y'all are getting that many entries the way it is, it shouldn't be changed. I'm just surprised that many people are getting in based on the format....I stand corrected......

The results will be posted by the middle of the week. We ran into problems trying to reconcile the scores in the program correctly.
There is an error in the set up apparently, or we are selecting an option incorrectly somewhere.. it is ommitting some scores and tripling others.... Headquarters wants the tournament data uploaded for them to examine and they will tell us how to correct the problem. Melissa can't upload it from her work so she is sending it tonight, they will have it tomorrow and then maybe we can get it to Paula and have it uploaded onto the site... byWednesday...
It's always something... we promoted the website all weekend and then there is a snafu with the standings and they arent listed until 3 days or so later.... C R A P!!
Here's all you need to know biatches... rjj and I are leading Division 3 doubles by approximately 150 pins.
Add another City Championship to my resume' if the score holds up...

i won the 'special features' for the first singles squad with a 258 game ... 38 pins over my average ... thanks to TheDoc for not getting in and allowing me to win $36
sounds like 36 bowlers entered for the singles event ... if i remember correctly, there were quite a few more bowlers than that on Sunday, so it sounds like not as many people chose to enter/donate as did on Saturday
