environmental wackos? jeff you crack me up. We need to have a balance on our environment, and if you had your way we would each have an oil well in our yards. EVERYTHING we do, eat, drink and go has gone up the same percentage as gas and more, so why does everyone freak out at the price of gas? it's still cheaper here than most places. I will be d**ned if i will get on one of those god forsaken buses with a bunch of wierdos just to save 40 dollars a week. jeez, you could really save money if you just stayed in the bed and never got up. Life is going to dictate that you spend money, that's why you work. We all bowl, and there is no lesser value for your money than that. You can spend 2.5 hours at a movie for 8.00 - and you know you spend 20.00 at least to bowl, if you don't drink. as far as Exxon and Shell, how could anyone who lives in Deer Park or Pasadena even consider boycotting them? Deer Park only exists because of the refinery business? Do you know how many people in the city, state, country, world those 2 companies employ? I never hear anyone talk about boycotting Ford and Chevy and they make nothing but gas guzzlers, especially trucks, and they pay people 25.00 an hour to screw a bolt in, there is no bigger ripoff than an American made car! before you jump on me about keeping it American, for one thing, most of the japanese cars are made here, and second, nothing is American anymore. Put gas in perspective, you need it, it hasn't gone up as much as tons of stuff and we buy it from OPEC because that makes government here rich, but better to use theirs than ours, because if we ever start only using ours, and we run low, which we will, maybe not in our lifetime but we will, then we will really be at opec's mercy. Jeff, if you don't pay for gas why do you even comment - so you can somehow blame democrats for the gas prices too? you know, your boy Bush is now 85% unfavorable on every front, are you really gonna keep on that sinking ship? The only reason you can support him like you do is 1. you have no children so education and the demise of it interests you none 2 you have no children so the threat of draft bothers you none 3 you don't pay for gas, so it's not bothering you none 4 your not a minority so their plight doesn't interest you (although running a roofing co i would think you would be interested in the illegal controversy, or are you gonna try to tell us your company hires college educated roofers?) 5 you only worry about yourself so anything that affects anyone else is of no interest to you it would be easy to be a Bush supporter under these circumstances. get ready though, your party is doomed, and you know it. Yes, i am a bleeding liberal, but i don't live on this planet alone, there are all people, and we have to care about the less fortunate, for whatever reason, because it's a mark in our "Jesus Book" as my daughters would say everytime i helped a homeless person. Leave it better than you found it, that's how we should live. Being top dog on earth is nothing, and it's temporary, but being top dog in the afterlife for how you acted here, now that is utopia! People won't remember things you did, but they will remember how you treated them and made them feel. Be nice to someone today that won't get you anything in return.
OK, off my soapbox, you gotta admit, i have been missing in action! ha ha

#doh# DAMMMMNNNN RJJ that post made me want to go and trade in my car, look and see how many more years for the BUSH term were left #deadhorse# and almost made me go to www.democraticparty.com and sign up as a member and for the monthly newsletter #thcheerleader# #notworthy# And perfect telling us that he can drive his gas guzzling truck not have to pay for gas because "RHIP" is his way of bragging about how much money he has because he saves it by not putting it in his tank. #batte_fou# Then I almost got dressed and went down to the homeless shelter with some old clothes and donated them. But I decided against that because with gas prices going up almost as fast as the thermometer and me having a gas guzzling v8 mustang I decided I better not because then I would have to buy new clothes #grrr# Hey perfect since you save money on gas why don't you use that money your saving and buy you some new shirts for bowling. And preferable some that fit #nutkick# Better yet can you drive my car to work next week and fill my tank up before you go home so I can drive all week on your gas #notworthy# Hey maybe all the active forum members can let you drive a new car to work next week so you can really look like a rich a$$hole to all your employees #party-smiley-017# driving a different car everyday filling the tank before you leave sounds like a winner to me #thcheerleader# OK I'm off my #soapbox# have a great day

Wasn't blaming Democrats.... I said "Wacko Environmentalist"... There's a difference between legitimate concerns for our environment and then there are Wacko's that think we should go back to the stone ages and see we don't create any pollution "at all" that would kill mother earth....
No one wants an oil well in their front yard... that's an idiotic statement... I thought you were smarter than that. We have plenty of resources at out disposal we can't get to, because of environmentalist (championed by the "Extreme Left") have made so many restrictions on getting what we need cost prohibitive by our companies to drill for oil..... In Alaska for example.. There's not any people even living in the Wild Life Preserve and the wacko's won't let our companies in to drill... Many coastal areas have been put off limits by these people....
When the voice of the American people gets loud enough from the prices they pay for gas to our politicians and these Wacko Liberals start getting voted out of office....The remaining Liberals will start changing their tune to save their jobs and start easing restrictions and the costs involved for getting the oil and gas we need at an affordable price. You know, for the lower income people that they are suppose to represent.....
And just because I don't pay for my gas, don't mean I don't know the truth to this problem and can't speak my mind...
And if you really knew anything about how our government makes money off gasoline, then you would have known that they tax us at the pump, (I think it's now like 37.5 cents per gallon).... not because of where our oil companies buy it from....it don't matter, "us" the end users of the gas, are paying the taxes on gasoline to the government.....

Wow what a post...but I have to comment on this 1) Education hasn't been addressed by either party well, so bringing that up is a dead horse...at least republicans have tried pushing bills that allow you to take your money with your kid and send them to the better performing schools or even to use that money to help offset the cost of private schools 2) If you think anyone is REALLY going to institute a draft, you really have lost it! 3) I can't really argue this one 4) Minorities...hmmmm...what have the democrates really ever done for them that was soooo great. Remember, a REPUBLICAN president actually proclaimed them free - hmmm everyone forgets that...and that the south used to vote DEMOCRAT just because of that. Why does no one seem to really remember that in history. Plus...on the imigration issue...sorry, no simpathy here. There are asian families here, that got here legally, that are waiting 15+ years to bring the rest of their family (mothers, brothers, etc) over here legally. So, just cause they can cross a border much easier, I could care less...let them take the tests that everyone else has to, in ENGLISH, like everyone else has to...and then I will worry about them. 5) Really...the party doomed...not likely. Of all the senate and house seats up for election, almost ALL political analysts say there are not enough seats open in COMPETITIVE races for the democrats to pull off a takeover. It could happen, but it is very unlikely. And the great thing is, that conservatives are going numbers more than the liberals...especially as more of them put stuff out in the world that makes them look so off kilter. All I have to say is Churchill, Shehan, etc... 6) While gas has not gone up as much as other things, I agree, but the cost of production has not changed as much for them as for other industries as well. While more consumption has occured, there is also more gas being produced. Now I think the better answer is this: a) More refineries do need to be built as gas is a great resource and we cannot refine enough of the gas we have now. b) More drilling needs to occur for the moment to ensure less dependance on OPEC c) More money needs to be spent on ALTERNATIVE FUEL research and developement d) More people need to realize how much energy they use and conserve e) More people really need to look into the GREAT LIBERAL idea of MASS TRANSIT 7) About the kid issue...it is everyone's choice whether to have kids or not...so saying to someone "you don't have a kid" is not really a great argument. It is a choice to have kids, and if a person chooses not to have a kid, you cannot really fault them for that...cause then you have to fault every gay/lesbian couple that doesn't have a kid. Also, just cause someone doesn't have a kid, doesn't mean that they don't have someone that they look after as one of their own. environmental wackos? jeff you crack me up. We need to have a balance on our environment, and if you had your way we would each have an oil well in our yards. oh my god what a crazy post!!!!
i did not say i was taking someone's choice to have kids away from them, i said, if you don't have children, then education in this country takes a back seat to issues that are closer to your concerns!
I mean really, digging up the civil war - jeez, that's just like those people who live solely on the constitution while it is so outdated, and when we really don't know what was in their minds when they wrote it. get relevant.
how can you say to think there could be draft makes me an idiot? how can you sit there and think it's not a possibility? i never dreamed 3 yrs in that we would still be there, i never dreamed 3 yrs in that i would still daily see the death toll, and that it's risen in the last year, not gotten better. I never dreamed that my country would "occupy" as they have. i never dreamed that my leader would be so out of touch with life in general for the mid american. I never dreamed i would live in a country where i paid 30,000.00 in taxes in one year, every year, never claimed unemployment - never took a dime back, and i have a family member who is disabled who cannot get disability but who every Dr. says can't work. do not try to sell me your crap about how great it is here, it sucks! and don't you dare be one of those "love it or leave it" because i am one of those "love it so change it" your boy is done. period. Everyone in this country got so freaked by 3000 dead on 9-11 but no one seems the list bit bothered by the 2000 additional over there. and, we have yet to really do anything about the person, or group responsible for that dreadful day, he is still making videos for God's sake. back on education, the worst state for that subject is TEXAS and he promised he would be education president, give me a break. we got all excited about his wife being a teacher, and come to find out she was a librarian. education in this state is pitiful, but then again, we could take care of that by getting rid of "adios mofo" Ricky Perry.

oh yeah, your mass transit idea. my office is in Sugarland, they don't even have mass transit out there. only if you are going into downtown is mass transit even an option. all the people that work in the refineries up and down the ship channel and up and down 225 have no mass transit so that was dumb. take your life in your own hands standing at those bus stops and riding on those busses anyway. if you have children, you cannot car pool. they get sick, they have activities they have places you have to get them too and carpooling is just not an option for most
gas is up, it's going up, nothing we can do, if it hits your pocket book that hard, make life altering changes - that's all you can do.

I tell you... you've been listening to too much Dem propagandy...lol.. The futher we get away from the basics of our Constitution, the more we'll turn into the England of old, that caused these great men to leave and form a new government...Our Constitution is not a living breathing document like Liberals and some Dems, like to think it is.... And if you thought for one minute that we would be in Iraq for less than three years, than you no nothing about history.... how many years were we in Japan, German and Italy after WWII?.... a lot more than 3 years. We still have military bases in those countries..... We can either fight the terrorist in Iraq and Iran or we'll be fighting them here, I would prefer to do it over there... not in our backyards..... how many more 911's will it take for you to realize this?.... If you have a relative that can't get benefits for being disabled, then he could not have gotten them under Clinton.... bottom line, Bush is not to blame here... and if you are paying 30,000 a year in taxes, then you better be thanking Bush for the tax cuts he put in... because under Clinton you would be paying more. And if your paying more now, that is only because you are making more, not because your paying a higher percentage.... Bush let Ted Kennedy right the new Education Bill, because he wanted to work with the Dems and try and set a new tone in Washington..... if you have problems with it, them talk to your buddy Ted Kennedy... your fellow Dem.... And Public Education system will always sux as long as it's controlled by the Dems....vouchers and privatizing of our school system is the way to go now because things have gotten so screwed up.... If there is anything that needs to change with the times, public education tops the list... Then why don't the Dems want to change it.... because they will lose their monopoly on brain washing the our young children with their one sided political views.... There's no other reason.... that's the truth...

There is one line in here that really bothers me...especially since you want to rant and rave about education. "Bringing up the civil war" and you say it like that is something crazy to do. Hmmm...ever hear the line, LEARN FROM HISTORY OR BE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT. If you learned nothing from all these time periods, then I am sorry for the school systems failure. In every instance (except proabition) everyone was weary about changing the constitution...and that is why the founding fathers made it so hard to do so. Government already has more power than the founding fathers ever dreamed of a government having and it is just getting larger. How much more does everyone want to pervert one of the greatest documents ever written (that deals with political science) and throw it down the toilet. I think that people that really think that the constitution should be radically changed, all need to move to california and split away from the mainland. It was written for a reason...and the great progressive societies of the European nations are another place they can go...those countries are what a perverted and destroyed constitution will look like anyway. oh my god what a crazy post!!!! i did not say i was taking someone's choice to have kids away from them, i said, if you don't have children, then education in this country takes a back seat to issues that are closer to your concerns! Here's what I would like to add to these last few posts:
You guys (RR and Perfect) are in a Republican induced utopia so deeply ingrained, you have no idea what the real world is like.
Rush Limbaugh and his types are the only ones I know of that have radio programs nationally broadcast... at least, he's the only one I hear on AM radio... there's a liberal or 2 that I have heard, but, they seem to be focused on consumer rights... I cannot name a Liberal talk radio host... so who really is spreading this democratic propagnda you are referring to?
I don't listen to Rush... I read the newspapers (USA Today and the Houston Chronicle) I rarely read the editorial and opinion section.. it really doesn't interest me...
I know this: Bush's approval ratings are plumetting... and they ain't just asking democrats about his job performance... his own cabinet and White House staff is jumping ship almost as fast as they can... that should tell you something.
Fighting a war and keeping the terrorism battle off our soil? What are they fighting? I only hear about the car bombings and the killing of our troops... I haven't heard one thing about any offensive moves we are making. Only assume we are occupying a Green Zone and keeping Iraquis from having access to their City. All Iraquis.... good and bad. While we sit around and wait to get blown up by the insurgents...
And don't blame a Liberal Media... that is a cop out argument.
As for rjj detailing points about perfect's existence... she was right on... and yo notice he responded to none of those points in his reply, except to defend his right to comment on the price of gas he doesn't have to buy.
I get a majority of my mileage reimbursed. I make .25 cents per mile for driving approximately 25,000 miles/ year. The higher the gas, the less I make. The wear and tear on my vehicle does not reduce based on the price of gas. It remains the same. I lose. But, not as much as someone that pays 100% of their gas consumption.
Should Houston have done a better job of setting up some form of mass transit? I say yes. But, there are many with the cowboy mentality that would not use it. The problem is the Gen X'ers and Baby Boomers. They are a selfish generation. Raised spoiled kids, and it looks like it will be the next generation of kids, the so called "Millenials" that will have to fix things. Or a majority of the people will have to become more prgressive thinkers.

1) This is what I love about liberals.....so far no one has argued against any of my points...not one at all.
2) rjj brings up education...HA I say...at least the numbers are improving...considering that we (Texas) haven't really been under REPUBLICAN rule that long...I am not surprised. Plus, Rick Perry, as all governors of Texas, has very little actual power...it is just a stepping stone for trying to achieve a higher office.
3) I haven't listened to Rush in forever, or an AM radio for that matter except the Astros...so hmmm...can't really say that to me.
4) Liberal Message...the NEW YORK POST, THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE, AND MOST NEWSPAPERS IN THE US! It is not just the editorials, but the stories they choose to be in the paper and not in the paper...how they word things, etc...
5) I never defended Bush...he has made mistakes, including not sending enough troops into Iraq in the beginning...but I do agree that without having made the move we made, the world would be a more dangerous place...and even though people may not like the war, and overwhelming number DO feel we are in a safer world because of it.
6) Against RJJ's post...do you really think any politician, of any party, really knows what middle America or poor America is REALLY going through???
7) There will not be a draft!!!
8) Luckily, the conservative party is actually growing with the new generation so I am happy about that...but I do not argue that my generation and many in the generations before me, are all about that..."me". They don't care about anything except what is in it for them. They don't care about anything else but what is the government doing for me now.......well, thankfully the country is swinging back to the conservative side...hopefully US Citizens will rise up and take back their lives from the government and actually hold the government accountable. Make the government go back to operating in the limits of the constitution!

I have a very good grasp on the real world.....and 740 and 950 have some Liberal talk shows.... they are on weekends and very few people listen to it..... they sux and do nothing but whine about everything... And there have been major successful offenses against terrorist insurgent in Iraq... and even the Main Stream media have covered it from time to time but they didn't make much of it..... True, I would rather us not be at war if we can help it but Iraq was aiding terrorist and our government, Dems included gave Bush the authority to go after Terrorist and the countries that support them.. true there are other countries over there we need to get tough with, Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia to name a few...Terrorisum by radical Muslims is not going to stop, they hate us. They hate our way of life, the freedoms we enjoy, basically everything about us. They will fight till we are dead or converted or till they are dead. Did y'all even know that there were anti-war people in the US and Europe that said we should do nothing about Adolph Hitler when he invaded Poland?... I think everyone today would look upon these people as fools and were just flat out wrong.... No one likes war but as long as there are these types of people in our world in leadership positions with followers full of hate and bent on attacking the US, we are forced into protecting our citizens, way of life and the interests of the American people world wide.... This is just common sense....

And as far as Bush's approval rating.... I've actually have cared less about what any Presidents approval rating was, even Clinton's.... but Bush's rating going lower recently has a lot to do with two issues in my opinion. Gas prices going up and the illegal alien issue, which his stance has drawn much criticism from Republicans, me included..... Bush is not perfect and I haven't always agreed with him.... but he has been brave and stuck to his guns and has done a better job than what Gore or Kerry would have done these 6 past years....
When you have the main stream media dogging him at every chance they get, it's no surprise his approval ratings are low. And it's a proven fact that 88% of the main stream media people and they're vote Democrat and naturally by human nature inject their political bias in the reporting of news to their favor....
If you think that Rush Limbaugh and Shaun Hannity are right winged, you should hear Michael Savage on the radio. He comes on KPRC 950 am at 5:00 pm weekdays. He's even too right winged for me...lol... Actually, I enjoy listening to Tony Snow's show on 950 am, he comes on at 8:00 pm... I think he's a voice of reason on many issues. Defiantly worth listening to by all...

where to start where to start? how do you know that every reporter of the news and newspapers is "liberal" and how come every thing against yalls views is slanted and lies but everybody that supports yalls views is telling the almight truth? talk about making the shoe fit to your foot! we mount no offense in Iraq. who was the last soldier that has been there have you talked to? my dear friends son just came home and it was exactly as David said. they spent months, doing nothing. bored beyond bored. they get in a squat position somewhere and just stay there "monitoring the perimeters" is how he put it. There are no "front lines" there are no sections being overtaken, there is no offense, and from what he says they are fighting a different kind of enemy, so you can't defend a car bomb! Government backed bush on that war Jeff based on lies. this is not media slant, this is proven. The man lied. he knew his success only lied in the fact that after 9-11 patriotism was up and a war saved his ass. I have said a million times, he has to be thankful for 9-11 or we would have seen what an idiot he is in a month. what problem do you have with helping others on this planet. to quote John Lennon "all we are saying is give peace a chance" You act like all you and your life success came from no one but you. you were born into your life. just like those poor poor people are born into their lives. did you really improve your status over your environment? Or aren't you exactly where most people raised at the same time you were are? you have no care for others when at any given moment there but for the grace of God go you. Liberals mostly care about people, i think the democrats through the years have ruined the minority movement, they helped them so much they made them dependant, and therefore they could always count on their vote. this is absolutely wrong, to help we should have taught them to stand on their own feet. we did them no favors - worst thing the democrats have done or will ever do. and yes, i thing the young black senator from Indiana knows exactly the plight of mid americans Russ. Russ, you have no interaction with education in this state whatsoever. ask any teacher about how they feel about the direction it's taken in Texas - just ask one. they teach TAKS only, nothing else. it's horrible on the children and the teachers. yall are back to that voucher crap where again 1/2 of the children get it all and half get none - the top half. Read Hilary Clinton's book "it takes a village to raise a child" you will see that yalls "secluded views" will just not work anymore. we spent the 50's just worrying about our little corner, you can't live on a planet like that. you just can't. you have to care about all!!!! Do not compare Iraq with Hitler. they are not the same. they don't hate us over there because of our freedoms, and what we have. they think we are nothing but excess and that we are self centered, they dislike us because we are guided by nothing, except greed. our ways go against all they (and i am talking the normal muslim beliefs) stand for. every group has its radicals, even the republicans have a couple. How can you two argue that we should be there when 85% of us have told you we don't want us there? this will ruin the armed forces, that's why i believe there will be a draft. no one in there right mind would enlist now. where are you going to get these people to protect and serve us? You don't have to change your political party, just don't follow it so blindly is all I ask. it's that blind patriotism that made Hitler so successful.

Hilary Clinton is an idiot and it don't take a village to raise a child..(it just takes good parents). Her ideas are the kind of mentality that's ruining America...I reject anything that women has to say... she's a socialist...
I didn't say Iraqis hated Americans.... I said Extreme Muslims do (you know, the one's that become terrorist and join Al Queda and kill people) they are the insurgents in Iraq along with the remaining loyalist Bathist Party of Saddum .... They are the ones committing all the bombings over there and killing Iraqis as well, because they don't want a free middle eastern country over there. Because it will eventually cause up risings of Citizens to want freedom and a different type of government, instead of dictatorships and loss of their human rights... because they have few, especially women....
And it's a proven fact about how main stream media people vote. You just won't hear it because the main stream won't report it....There have been polls taken on this
