rjj..... I'm not selfish and I do care about those that were born into a sociaty with limited to no means of ever pulling themselves out of it in their country. But there are private institutions that we as Americans can donate to help these people.
As far as Americans, I have less tolerances for them. Our Government provides more means of education and monetary support for our poorer citizens than anyother country in the world. If they chose not to help themselves, then why should I help them through our taxes...... I should not be forced by our government to pay additional taxes to go to these people. They made there bed, they just don't want to lay in it and politicians are helping them not to lay in it for votes....that's betraying the American people in my opinion.... Both sides, Dems more than Republicans but still both. And again, if Americans want to help these people, they can individually, no one is stopping them but forcing other Americans to pay more taxes for this purpose is wrong. And as you said, it's not helping them any, they are just becoming lazy and now feel they are entitled to it. And to make it even worse, many illegal aliens now think they are entitled to these benefits because we have extended them on to them.... Let's help our people first, then we can see what we can do for the others....JMO... ;D

1) I hate to tell you I do interact in Today's EDUCATION. I only said the numbers were improving, like how many are literate and can do basic math that is closer to their grade level. I did not say it was great. Anyone that knows me knows that I think that public education is a farse. I know that most people cannot afford private school, but let me tell you I AM ALL FOR IT. In a sense you get what you pay for, public school is all about numbers - TAKS numbes. Kids can't think, all they know is that they are taught to pass the TAKS exam...but thinking...HA! That is why school is such a farse...Home Schooling is better than public school in most cases...they just suffer from social issues of how to interact with people, but at least they can think.
2) Bush did not lie...and only the mentally insane think that he did. Here is the justification of that statement. If I told you that Jeff was listening to AM Radio 24 hours a day (even in his sleep) and everyone else was telling you this as well, you think it is a fact. So when you say to Jeff that all he does is listen to AM radio all day, you are not lying, not in the strict sense of the word...it is what you really believe to be truth. Well, FRANCE, UK, US, ISRAEL, GERMANY, and ITALIAN information said Iraq had WMDs...Bush did not lie...and to top it all off, Saddam disarmed only about a month before the strike and MOST OF HIS OWN PEOPLE IN OFFICE didn't even know about it...they thought they still had WMDs. That is why they weren't scared of being attacked is because they thought they had weapons to depend themselves with.
3) To say that liberals care about people is not a great statement. Conservative Christians have probably helped more people, especially the poor, than any other group in history...however, liberals want that help to come from the government and conservatives from the private sector. And government dependance is what has lead this "me" generation.
4) The Muslim world has always been at odds with western culture...it is nothing new...it has been going on since before the Crusades...so I could care less about the ones that don't like us...They don't have to come here and if they want a war...unlike the crusades, the Western World is the dominant force now!
5) Where are you getting 85% from...Never seen it that high ANYWHERE. And Re-enlistment is actually going up amoungst enlisted men. ALSO, let me see...last contact...oh yes, that would be Shana's (a friend of mine) boyfriend husband coming home and he was going into sections and helping clear out the radicals...he also talked about the Iraqi police troops are continually getting more involved in the raids and even taking the lead. He was happy to be there and happy to be going back...his exact words "I am happy to know that I can make a difference in someone's life...that someone is going to have the freedoms I have, in some shape-or-form, because I served in the US Miliraty." He was here for 2 weeks, he went back last Tuesday.

He was here for 2 weeks, he went back last Tuesday. 1. Farce. Thanks. Once can be a typo, much like another couple of mis-types in your post... 2 times, I have to believe you don't know how to spell it.
2. Bill Clinton said he did not haxe sexual relations with "that woman" (Monica Lewinski). I gues he believe fellatio is not sexual relations. If he believes, it, it must have been so. Same argument. Bush's stance was they moved the WMD's... when there was no evidence, they had ever been there... does Jeff have any AM Radios oin his house? If he DOES have a radio, would we be justified in bombing his house, then surrounding it with personnel, so he couldn't get back into it?
3. No comment. Politics and Religion are the 2 most crooked, decadent institutions we have.
4. Opinion. No counter opinion.
5. Almost 1,800 troops have been killed. I hope your friend's husband does not become an addition to that count. If he does, at least they have an idea what to inscribe on his tomebstone.

Never was good at spelling, and I need to get the code to put the spell checker on the quick reply, cause I know that I don't spell well, therefore I normally use the spell checker.

My problem is I hold pens and paper clips and stuff in my hand while I type.... I am an exceptional speller.... a so-so typist, at best.

Gas prices finally went up in Vegas last week...I was happy to see the low prices and was actually looking forward to taking advantage of them when I move here...In one day they went up 40 cents...Right now it is around $2.87 a gallon...All the casinos I will be working at are scattered around the city and my gas guzzling truck is going to be a huge financial liability to me here...

The gas prices are crazy. Fortunately my truck is paid for as of Feb 06 so I have the extra cash to fill up the tank right now. I hope they come back down soon. The bad part about living in Houston is that everything is so spread out, it's hard to use Metro. I have looked at car pooling with other co-workers, but scheduling problems keep it from being done. I know that it is now in discussion that we change from working 5-8 hour days a week to 4-10 hour days a week. That will save us a day of gas usage going to and from work that day. Plus it will give me a 3 day weekend every week...woohoo.

I'm supposed to work 6:30a-5:00p each day, so I should be able to get to the bowling alley in time. Now weather I will be tired or not is to be seen...lol. As it is now with the Tarceva cancer drug, I usually take about an hour nap before bowling on Wednesday's, but there's only 3 weeks left in the season.

I was in San Antonio this past weekend and I was surprised at how cheap gas prices were. I didn't see one place over 2.89. I filled up at 2.69 at Valero. Why is gas so much cheaper there than here? The refineries are here and cost less to travel to the stations. I think the Houston area stations are price gowging(sp?) us here. HMMMMMMMMMMM

just to let everyone know. i heard that "people" are stealing gas from other peoples vehicles while they are at the local malls. the thiefs are targeting vehicles with larger gas tanks and syphoning into their vehicles. for about 8 bucks your local parts store sells a "tube" with a fitting inside of this tube that once placed in the donating vehicle and shaken will automatically syphon from one vehicle to the other. also, your local parts store sells locking gas caps for around 50 bucks.

Certain metropolitan areas are required to sell "reformulated gasoline". Houston is required. Not sure about San Antonio, Beaumont area does not require it... gas is cheaper there too.

That is probably the answer...the reformulated gas is done to meet certain "evironmental" standards I think?
