As some of you know, mom has not been doing well during the summer. It started in July with her throwing up everything she would eat. After several ER visits with no admittance, the 4th try finally got her in. They ran just about every possible test to find out what was wrong. They could not find anything medically wrong. After 2 weeks at Methodist, they discharged her. The next day we had to take her back to ER, but this time we took her to St. Joseph's. They admitted her for 1 day. Methodist had come to the conclusion that mom had had a nervous breakdown and referred her to be given psychiatric help. On Friday, August 17th, we admitted her to West Oaks Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. What a hell of a 65th birthday present. During her first 2 weeks there, she was taken to SW Memorial ER for dehydration twice. On the 2nd time they kept her at SW to run some other tests. They installed a feeding tube to get some nutrients and stuff in her. They also used this to administer her meds. Come to find out, she had a blockage in her throat area and that everything she would try to eat or drink was partially going into her lungs. On Wednesday while bowling, my sister called me from the hospital and told me that mom had ripped out the feeding tube and her IV and told her and dad that she wanted to die. This past Friday, SW Memorial installed another feeding tube and discharged her to an acute/rehabilitation skilled nursing home. Saturday night the nursing home had to take her back to SW Memorial to ER because she was throwing up the stuff they were putting in her through the feeding tube. As we speak, she is at SW Memorial in ICU.
As you can see, it has been a very rough past 3 months. On top of that, I will be taking my father to Methodist tomorrow morning to have by-pass surgery in both legs and he will be in ICU there for a couple of days before being moved to a regular room for up to 2 weeks for recovery. It's going to be hell trying to be at work and then at both hospitals to make sure everything is going ok. That's why I'm asking for some prayers for the family.
Thanks and may GOD bless you.

I'm at the hospital right now and so far everything is going ok. He should be sewing him up around 12:30-1:00pm. From there he will go to a recovery room and then onto ICU for a couple of days. If anything should change, I will let ya'll know.
Thanks for the prayers. We will need alot more the next couple of weeks.

UPDATE....
We moved dad out of the Cardiovascular ICU yesterday around 5:00pm to a regular room and he is doing well. He's still hurting alot but that is expected. At least he is over the critical 1st 24 hours.
Mom on the other hand is stable. They took the breather off of her yesterday, but last night they put it back on. They plan to move her in the next couple of days and we are going to move her to our side of town. It will mean a new set of doctors, but we are not really that thrilled with the ones she currently has. They were going to move her to a Sugarland long term facility....uhhh no.

UPDATE....
I printed out this thread and took it up to mom and read it to her. She smiled.
Dad will be released either today or tomorrow to come home. At home, he will have home health care for rehabilitation and rebuild his strength.
Mom was moved Thursday to a long term acute rehabilitation skilled nursing home on our side of town. So we get to start over with a new doctor. We ran into some good luck that the doctor assigned to mom was someone we knew from our days at NW Memorial. That put a relief on mom's face. I'm hoping that this will be a turn-around moment for her. She is still in ICU at this facility, but might move to a regular room tomorrow. She is off of the breathing machine and her vitals are looking real good. I will give more updates soon.
Thanks again for all the prayers.
If you would like to send her a card, please send it to:

UPDATE....
We moved dad to Physical Therapy yesterday evening where he will spend up to 2 weeks getting built back up. Other than that, he is doing just fine.
Mom on the other hand is a little different. Good news first. They moved her out of ICU to a regular room yesterday morning. Her brother Lynwood flew in from Chicago yesterday to spend a few days down here. Now the bad news. The doctor called this morning requesting an MRI because he thinks mom may have suffered a mild stroke. He thinks that is why she isn't talking. Hopefully it comes back negative. Other than that, she is still being fed through a feeding tube for nutrition and a few IV's. She is getting more visitors which seems to make her happy.
Will update again when we can. Thanks again for the prayers.

UPDATE....
Dad will be through with his Physical Therapy early as he will be coming home this evening.
Mom's MRI came back negative for a stroke. Right now the doctor's are throwing up their hands and can't determine what's wrong with her. She follows commands and understand what you are saying. They are going to bring in an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist and see what he can find.
Will get more updates on here as we find out anything.
