I subbed on the Wed night league at Arm 1 last night. Had a bad first game 169 then 215, 215. The second game was a no tap 300. The third game was another no tap 300 until the 10th I left the 6-7. I thought I had bowled a 167 the first game and had to spare this for 600. But nope....went for the spare and missed the 6 pin (barely) and shot 599! I was in the pocket all night. Same with the night before, just couldn't carry.

i think it's funny to read Perfect's take on an event. We are the ones his team bowled Monday night. said they lost because they couldn't carry and they gave us 92 pins. Well, we have one bowler on our team with a 150 average and he bowled 444 - hardly a sandbagger - he is just learning. The first game they beat us by 60 - 2 of their bowlers went haywire and believe me, got LOTS of carry and Jeff bowled a very nice 268. Second game we beat them by 308 pins - it wasn't carry or the handicap, they got their ass beat off. third game was just a plain ol game and we won it. we are underestimated - and that's it. Our anchor bowler is averaging 245 - not shabby. Jimmy fields will be around 245 next week and so the shot, while may a little dry, does not seem to be a problem for most. If those lanes get any oilier on Monday nights Perfect, you have 1 bowler for sure on your team, and possibly 2, who will struggle. they were both right of center dot on that dry condition and barely hooking the ball to the pocket, any oilier and i don't know how they will do it. It's a shame he couldn't give us any credit. but that's ok - we have lots of fun in that league.

Yawl did bowl good and I failed to say that, my apologies and I never said anything about sandbagging by your team...I'm sure your team members are all on correct averages.... As far as some members on my team struggling if the lanes were slicker is a misconception on your part. All the members on my team have equipment that hooks more and Bob E. is purposely killing the ball to get it down the lane as was I.... I know if I had the Pro Shop at Arm II, I would be unhappy the shot is that dry. I would find it hard to sell the more expensive aggressive balls because of the amount of hook of the lanes. I probably wouldn't stock very many of those and stock a bunch of the go straight polished cheaper equipment......If any one did buy one of the medium or hooking balls from me, there's a 95% chance they are wanting it for a different house....JMO... I never said the shot was un-scorable but for me to do so, I have to change a lot of things in my game just to score at that house. Which will cause problems with my ability to score at other houses I may bowl league or Tourns. in. (They all have more oil) We are creatures of habit and if you change things in your timing, ball speed and release "dramatically" (the key word there), for one house, you can't change it back by flipping a switch to do what you need every where else and be competitive...JMO... There are limits to the amount of adjusting a bowler can do...

I did have a little bird fly by me the other day and it was saying more oil needs to be put down but in the fairness of the game nothing will be changed until the next quarter starts

Besides, more oil will protect the heads, lanes and finish longer and that is an expensive investment by the house and not a cheap fix, once they burn up....(and that's not an opinion, that's a fact).....lol...

There are limits to the amount of adjusting a bowler can do... What I think is funny is how perfect complains about having to change his game to bowl on a drier condition Yet "PRO" bowlers are having to change releases and ball speed and shots from game to game sometimes in the middle of a game to score on conditions they bowl on Why is it "PRO" bowlers who have to change their game to score on a condition consider this part of the game? I wonder if Chris Barnes bowling in a tournament for the second year in a row complains because the lanes are drier than they were last year? Maybe perfect isn't as good as he wants some of you to believe! If changing release, ball speed and trajectory down the lane affects his game that much I feel he isn't as good as he thinks he is Quit biatching because the shots different adjust your game to the condition your bowling on and start bowling higher scores! Just because you stood on 25 with your approach (LAST YEAR) and aimed at 12 (LAST YEAR) the keyword in that is LAST YEAR! This is a new year and play the shot that's out there for THIS YEAR! Stop living in the PAST and move forward with your pre-historic thoughts on bowling! I remember playing the gutter at Hurricane 15 years ago! You can't play that shot there now so why try Play the shot that your given not the one you want to play! JMO

Actually I think the real reason is to sell more top of the line bowling balls during the Christmas season in the pro shop not because they think more oil is needed on the lanes ;D

JMO Even though there are "some" valid points to your point of view, I don't bowl 75+ games a week any longer and neither does anyone else that bowls league at Arm II to my knowledge. I am no longer a pro bowler and my ability to adjust quicker and correctly is not as sharp as it once was......but should we have to on a house shot, that meant to be easy to induce high scoring?....as opposed to touring pro conditions.... What shot is Arm II wanting to put out? But pros bowl scratch, that is a completely different animal than handicap leagues and Tourns. you can't compare the two....JMO... I am still able to compete respectably with Regional and Touring pros on the same shot in the SASBA tourns. I do bowl in. I'm still able to score as much as many of them... it may not be a Regional or Touring pro lane condition but it's the same for all in those Tourns.

Still, great shooting MsMullet....... I bowl there tonight..but ...lol... Thanks. After bowling like crap for this season I actually threw the ball good (for me) two nights in a row. Smashing the pocket (no flat ten pins for me), I was happy with my bowling just wish I could have carried a little better. But oh well there is always next week. And let me tell you I bowl in the same center and the shot was different all three nights. Slick as snot Monday (couldn't get the ball to ripple), drier Tuesday and sort of in the middle of those Wednesday. But still scorable and there were some decent scores shot all three nights.
