Seems like those Hall of Fames have participation requirements for their tournaments... I don't know what the minimum is, but, if you haven't bowled in many HBA City tournaments, or gone to state every year, you may not be qualified...
I don't know the exact details... check with Jimbo, he is a State and HBA member...

I never kept count of how many I've bowled but I think it's at least 10 of them since 1984, maybe close to 15... but not sure.... I wonder if they have even kept the records to find out....if not, how are they to know differently?....I'm just saying...

Just thought I'd pass along the fact that the bom has a good take on the Hall of Fame time of year.
With the controversies of who gets in, who doesn't. Who gets mad, who is okay about it.
Believe me, the emotions run the entire spectrum.
Maybe one thing our Association needs to look at is letting ANYONE submit an application. This practice provides the environment for many personal opinions to be involved, and thus, much more disappointments.
In the past, with the limited number of Hall of Famers, it was not realistic to expect those 10 or so people to be nominate every year. Many of those first inductees were old timers that established Pasadena Bowling. In later years, with the Board members being for the most part, mismanaged and lazy, there were a coupel of years when the event wasn't promoted or publicized, and there was just 1 application turned in... with 2/3 approval, you had your inductee.
Now, with younger, more involved people, maybe the nomination process should be taken over by our HoF membership.
I don't know all the answers.
All I know is I agree with the bom. To sum up his view:
Alot of people have the scores. But not all of them have what it takes.

From what I understand from James Cermin....under USBC rules, (for next year)...it states that the Hall of Famers along with the Board members that are on the Hall of Fame committee only will decide on the Hall of Fame canidates. Then the name or names are submitted to the whole board for radification and approval of any money spent on their award and /or banquet costs.....if I understood James correctly...I thought that was one of the reasons there will be no hold overs for next year....

Hall of Fame members and Committee will vote on the nominees and elect the inductees. The names will then be submitted to the new Board for approval. This is the way committees work. The Hall of Fame voted to function as a committee of the USBC Board, instead of being its own entity, so any decisions expenses etc will have to be approved by the Board. This is really no different than now, except, the enitre Board membership will not be voting on nominees. The Hall of Fame members, and the USBC Hall of Fame committee will be voting. Usually a commitee is 3 members... so, it won't be like the entire Board will be involved.

Applicants should only be judged for acceptance into the Hall of Fame by it's piers, in this case Hall of Fame members...and to take it a little further.... Only Performance Hall of Famers should only vote and approve on Performance applicants and Service Hall of Famers for Service Applicants....JMO... And the Board members that are on the Hall of Fame Committee, as David said, usually 3 should be older longtime better bowlers (if not a Hall of Fame member already) such as James Hickey, Bobby B, myself and even Darrin Reeves for Performance, since Kris is being inducted, this year, he'll get to vote anyways or I would have listed him as well....JMO...as far as the Service end, I think some of our longtime board members such a Joe, James, Mike Y. and I'm sure some others are better qualified than I am and others to be judging Service nominees....I can easily say I'm not qualified to vote on Service applicants...

Oh...on another note and I forgot to say this yesterday on the forum or in person to him... I wanted to thank PBA for his time and effort in putting together the Hall of Fame slide display and presentation on all the applicants. It was very professional and I'm sure took up a bit of personal time to put this together....I'm sure many Associations would be envious of his work and time he spends on Assoc. duties and meetings...We are very lucky to have him in our Association..... Thanks, David.... We appreciate you....lol...
