High Hopes in the Occidental Mixed league has increased our lead in the league, we took 4 from the 2nd place team last night, think we're 15 -1 now....lol... As usual I started off using my Hammer Doom, went 258, 237.... tried the Doom the first frame of the third game, wrapped a solid 10 pin, so I put it up.... I wasn't going to shoot another 190 with that ball the 3rd game like I have the last two weeks...lol...Pulled out the Blade for a few frames, it didn't do any better, Tried the Crunch Time one frame, didn't like it either, wrapped another 10 pin with it.... So in the 9th, I pulled out the Horizon and moved deeper, by this time, I've had two opens and no doubles, what do I have to lose at this point I was saying...lol... Struck out in the 9th and 10th for a 189 game, at least I think I found my 3rd game ball now...lol...Ended up with a 684 series for the night and carrying a 239 average after 3 weeks. Oh, Arm I has pulled a coat on the lanes, they have lanes 1 thru 16 done....I don't know when they are going to do the high end, maybe this weekend. Fortunately, we were on 17 & 18 and didn't have to bowl on those pairs...lol... It appeared that the lanes that had the coat pulled were hooking more, especially on the back ends....scores were down last night in the Eliminator and 3 brackets that were run.... Heck, my 189 finished 3rd in the Eliminator, behind a 202 that won and a 200 that was second. To give y'all an idea...lol...I split two brackets with Roger and finished 2nd in the third, so I made money for the night. Put up 20.00 bucks and got back 60.00 which includes the 10.00 for 3rd in the Eliminator... I think they are doing 8 lanes per night. 1-8-- Tuesday night 9-16-- Wednesday night 17-24-- Thursday night 25-32-- Friday night.

Oh, ok.. I didn't know.... Do you know if they are doing this in hopes of holding off resurfacing until next summer?.... I heard that they were going to resurface during Thanksgiving or Christmas.... do you know if that has changed?

I heard that they were going to resurface during Thanksgiving or Christmas.... do you know if that has changed? I heard they are hoping to have a recoat done in December or January, with an extra coat or 2 pulled at that time, and then I don't know about a total resurface... rumors not sure.

Shot average last night at AMF Diamond. 224, 253, 220, 697 with 1 open each game. We won 4 and are only 1/2 game out of 1st. I had to play deeper than normal last night and had to throw it harder than normal. I hope they put a little more oil out there next week...lol.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Bowled well again last night, but ran out of juice near the end of the 3rd game. Shot 248, 238, 200, 686. Bad part is we lost 3 games.
Sometimes we bring out the best in other teams. Twice this season, we have had a bowler shoot their career highs against us and we are only 6 weeks into the season...lol. A couple of weeks ago we had a bowler shoot his high game ever of 298. Last night we had a 146 average bowler shoot his 1st ever 600 series. Go figure. It's all fun and good for the game in my opinion. I love it when lower average bowlers bowl great even if it is against my team. They also enjoy it too when it's against us...lol. Ya'll have a good weekend and we'll see some of ya'll this weekend at the tournament.

High Hope's went 3-1 last night and are now 18-2 for the season so far. We already have a good lead over 2nd place.
I was the epitome of consistency this week, going 725, Monday night, 722 Tuesday night and 721 last night at Arm I with games of 247, 234 and 240. Won 3 of 4 brackets and the Eliminator. Threw a different ball each game last night, the Blade the 1st game, Crunch Time the 2nd and the Horizon the 3rd. The shot did seem a bit tighter starting off but got a little squirrelly with some oil carry down as the night went on but not bad and the track dried a little the third game but that's to be expected. Avg. 240.88 for the week. Not bad for an old man nearly 46 years old...lol.... ;D

Gotta love that 80% of 200... lol

I know it's not 80% of 200...lol.... with John, Roger and myself over 210, it does give us a little advantage as long as the shot stays good and consistent..... Actually, I think John and Roger are over 220 or right at it and I'm at 239.33....It does give us an advantage, since the handicap is based off individual averages instead of the team difference.... but we are really good to.... ;D

So, you are pretty close to the same handicap if it was based on Team average. But, 29 pins is a lot when you think about how many games are decided by 30 pins or less...

Last night, we were bowling "Here for da Beer" and were giving them 77 pins a game. I don't remember what there team avg. is, I'll have to look. If the leagues handicap was 85% of the difference (for that team) let me look and figure what that would be.

Our team avg. as of last night was 1070 with, me, Gary, John, Dana & Roger and Gary still had to use his entering avg. of 199 since he hadn't bowled 9 games as of yet. The team we bowled had a team avg. of 964 a difference of 106 pins and 85% of that would have been 90 pins a game handicap in lieu of the 77 pins they got last night. An additional 13 pins of handicap. We won the first and second games by 29 pins each game and lost the 3rd by 25 or 30. In this case, there would not have been a difference in outcome, but over the full year, there would be more games lost by us under a 85% of the team avg. difference....

I agree..... but I think a 85% of the team difference is a happy medium, IMO... 70% of 300.... WOW, I could get some handicrap then...lol... 70% of 61 is 42.7 or 42 pins a game added to my score...lol... I don't know if very many would go for that option...lol... For that to work, the individual scores would have to top out at 300 with handicap for it to work. I think things could get out of hand with that many pins of handicap if allowed to go over 300 with handicap...lol...JMO but that would hurt the higher avg. bowlers if done that way...IMO

Example... now with handicap off of 210... you get 0 pins. Your max is 300. If you bowl 342 with your handicap I guarantee someone else will beat that... Plus... USBC has rejected a rule amendment to cap off scores @ 300... stating a bowler is entitled to their FULL handicap. It inflates the numbers to the point the will resemble Zip Codes or phone numbers... but remember, the lower the % the more advantage to the higher average. @ 70% you are getting a 30% advantage over your opponents from the difference of their average to yours... It would be quite hard to lose very many games with that type edge...
