Thought I'd start a new thread for our Thursday night Leagues...
I had a HORRIBLE night @ Arm I.
Game 1, I had 5 pocket shots with my Punisher that were a breath away from being LILLYS...
I had a flat 7 (5-10 rolled over), pocket 5, a 5-7 and a 5-10, then another flat 7...
And that was the high points of my night... I changed balls early in the 2nd game, to my DOOM, which usually doesn't work very well, and had a better look, but, I started making adjustments for 1 lane on the other, and the left lane was slicker... so I was moving for hook, and it was slicker, then, I would move for slicker on the drier lane... needless to say, by the time I figured that out, we were in the 8th or 9th frame of the 3rd game...
For the record, I had 139-141-151 for a 431... after a 609 last week...
Consistency seems to be my strong point... lol... I did break my string of consecutive 500s or better @ 3...
Oh well, there's always next week... I also have wedding issues on my mind this week as we are T-minus 1 day from Tiner and Jaime tying the knot...

I have to admit that the lanes were better for me last night as well as many others... Cuts for the Eliminator were up, 214 the first game, 230 something for the 2nd game.... but the scores dropped a little for the 3rd game for most... with a 218 winning the Eliminator...
I did very well, going 255, 226 (opened in the 10th) then 238 for a 719 series... won 3 of 5 brackets but got knocked out of the eliminator the 2nd game because of my open... I threw the ball bad, it was all my fault....
I don't know if Arm I changed anything or if I was just on a good pair (27 & 28).. I tried a different strategy last night, moved right with my feet and threw a tamer ball (Smokin Inferno) it worked well and I hardly moved my feet all night.....

I was on 27-28 Wednesday night when I went 130, 258, 212, 600. I was too hard headed to change to my u-dot the 1st game. After I changed to it to start the 2nd game, as you can see, my scores were alot better. Down and in, eliminate the swing.

I didn't eleminate my swing but I did cut it down a lot... which I think helps a lot on this new glow in the dark (black light) lane finish that Arm I now has....lol....

If I recall correctly the last time both Armadillas resurfaced they received the glow finish so I don't think the glow finish has anything to do with it.

Arm II has had it for a while but from what I was told back when Arm I resurfaced, this glow in the dark lane finish was used for the first time. And ever since Arm I has resurfaced, I have struggled for the most part as have many other higher avg. bowlers.... Arm II has been really bad since pulling a new coat..... Jimbo feels that the Brunswick finish Randy purchased may have been bad..... Said, it doesn't look right, the color is different and is streaky..... Like I said in another thread.... Jimbo is going to have the Brunswick Rep. look at both houses once he gets well enough to travel...

Caught a decent pair last night, 25 & 26... and bowled well my first two games anyways....lol.... Went 255, 231 then 172...lol... missed 2 - 10 pins my last game, my head was up my butt for some reason on 10 pins last night... missed 1 my 2nd game as well.... The oil did finally move down a little bit during the 3rd game and carry got tougher. Either my ball hit too hard (stone 7 - 9 the 2nd frame of game 3 and another stone 9 pin later in the game) or came up late (wrap 10 pins, I just couldn't seem to get in between that last game. Ended up with a 658 series, tied 1 bracket with Garland, finished 2nd in 4 others and tie with Garland again for 4th in the Eliminator.
Many people shot a lot worse, whatever pair Charlie Mills was on must of suxed.... he went like 180 something then 170 something his first two games, don't know what he shot his 3rd game.
When will both Armadilla's realize that the common denominator of the poor scores is that crap lane finish both houses had put on after the end of Fall leagues last year. I will predict, that if they don't change something soon, there will be much lower averages this year by most, if not all and honor scores will be much fewer as well.....JMO....
Last year my avg. in Oxy Chem was 232.... right now, it's 216...down 16 pins....but at least that's not as bad as that crap at Arm II, last year's avg. was 234 on Tuesday nights and now it's around 206... down...28 pins....
Maybe a different lane oil might help with further adjustments to the shot.... but I'm beginning to think that nothing will make enough of a difference until new coats of lane finish is installed and hopefully, it won't be more of that glow in the dark with black lights finish crap....

Then again Randy may be trying to bring some integrity back to the game with what he is doing. Is there a chance that maybe those 230+ averages were inflated due to the cake that was out there or do you think you actually are a 230+ bowler? I for one know that i'm not a 225+ average bowler, but the cake we have been bowling on the past 10 years have inflated some peoples heads to make them think they are better than they really are. I just wish more houses would do the same and stop inflating peoples heads.

I shot pretty good last night at AMF Diamond. 203, 205, 264, 772. We won 3. I had to play a real deep line last night. If you got the ball outside 8, it was miss the headpin right. I had 5 washouts and spared 3 of them. At the same time, if you didn't get it outside 14, it was through the beak or brooklyn. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the shot was tough and not alot of room for error. It seems AMF Diamond has put out a tougher shot this year versus last year. I finished with 226 and I'm at 214 this year. Armadilla I I finished with 219 and I'm at 214 this year. At least I'm consistant between the 2 houses...lol

Wine.... get your head out of the 80's, it's 2007 right now.... Yes scores are higher now than in the past, that's just the nature of how things are now..... I bowl the sport league for the tougher lane conditions and integrity and of the 2 honor scores that's been shot in the Sport leagues, I shot mine on the toughest condition of the two.... but I'm not trying to say that Eddie 300 was on an easy shot, for it was not.... it was a true good tough shot and he threw the ball well.... and I have have been either 1st or 2nd high in avg. all 3 summers.... the cream will always rise to the top.... But anyways.... there is a difference between tough and unscorable conditions....you just can't score well with a ton of oil carry down with todays equipment....

It seems like I am putting over 100 miles a day on my truck and just no time for sleep. Maybe I can make the same mistake on my paycheck today and give myself some extra money...lol

Well the lanes at Arm I are getting better. There were some nice scores last night in the Oxy Chem league. Linda Smith shoots 300, Troy Boyd had a 299 leaving a stone 9 pin, Danny Trevino had a real nice 289 game. All of these games was everyone's 2nd game.
I did ok going 258, 213 (starting with the front 6, then opening 3 of the last 4 frames) and ended with a 226 for a 697 series and we won 3 games.
Cut the first game in the Eliminator was 180 something, then jumped up to 238 for the second game... The lanes are still changing quick but are still scorable, I believe more people are making the right adjustments quicker...
I'm still not a fan of the glow in the dark lane finish, I hope they will pull a coat or two of clear over this crap one day. They would still have the glow in the dark effect and the league bowlers would have what they want to....JMO....

Well, I guess Arm I has the right side fixed.... 300 by Linda Smith, 299 by Troy Boyd, 814 by Danny Trevino...
Meanwhile, on the left side (for me anyway, and believe me, I preface these remarks by acknowledging I am by all means a beginner boweler using the opposite natural hand), I have no mistake room... miss right, no hold, jumps through the nose or brooklyn... miss left, skids out and hits the 4 pin or the 2-4 in the face...
Now, I am by all means in favor of integrity in bowling... BUT, for most, a typical house shot meand yank it, and watch is skid and hit the pocket... throw it out too far, and it HOOKS off the dry and recovers to the pocket...
That is a reaction that I am not getting on the left side... Wednesday night I must have had 10-15 3, 4, or 5 counts with a couple of gutters... and I had reduced the number of gutter balls I am throwing this year...
I am trying to find time to work with Ms. Cope, because I am having a few timing issues, but, they are a result of aiming and placing the shots because I have no margin for error...
Meanwhile, all you righties enjoy the scoring boom...
