Oh well, we still stole home field advantage by splitting the games in Atlanta.
With positive karma we can sweep this weekend and then get ready for the next round....
Go 'stros!!

How is it that you are one of the best pitchers in the league, hall of fame material and your post season stats suck? I just don't get it!

How is it that you are one of the best pitchers in the league, hall of fame material and your post season stats suck? I just don't get it! A couple of reasons. One is I think he was still having problems with his leg, plus with the field condition it didn't help. Another reason is that I think that the umpires were squeezing the plate on him. I watch pitches that Smoltz threw and the same ones Clemens threw were called balls. 2 pitches before the home run was hit, Roger threw one right down the middle called for a ball. When that happened he had to come in more because the count was 2 ball 0 strikes. I've noticed that ever since Roger put on an Astro uniform he doesn't get the calls.

Okay...that explains part of one game. But they were saying his career post stats are worse than his regular season. As good as he is I just don't understand.

I agree - Clemens was not getting the calls on the corners, and for as great a pitcher as Clemens is, he is supposed to get those calls. That wasn't the only thing wrong though - Garner looked like an idiot! Why is Pameiro playing? Why not Scott, Bruntlett, Lamb or me in left field. Then, to pitch to that kid - number 8 batter, and not walk him with 2 outs and first base open to get to pitch to Smoltz was just dumb ass!!!!Of course, those are the ones that will get you! Ensberg is a great hitter, thank god, but a mediocre 3rd baseman. Let's hope we can plug some holes and take two at home. It's a 3 game series now. Get palmeiro out of there - jeez!!!

its funny how in the first game, bagwell pinch hits and gets a hit. no one called garner a genious, but if bagwell lines out everyone would have been on the "hang garner" gang. baseball is a law of averages and statistics and superstitons. you must expect the unexpected. i do and i will be in section 116 row 6 seat 12 on saturday. good day.

I heard on the radio that Clemens is the one who decided to pitch to the number 8 hitter. He wanted to start the next inning with Smoltz leading off. I don't understand why Palmeiro was starting again. I would have started Scott or Bruntlet.

How is it that you are one of the best pitchers in the league, hall of fame material and your post season stats suck? I just don't get it! Clemens made up for his poor start with a gutsy performance in what was probably the greatest baseball game ever played... 2- Grand Slams Home runs to tie it and then win it. 1- error for the entire game... Probably 600 pitches thrown... And everybody but 2 or 3 players played for each team... If I'm a St. Louis Cardinal... I'm scared. This Astro team is destined...

My boys did awesome! How about Berkman's grand slam! That is why he is my boyfriend. Ausmus has probably 45 career home runs and hits one to tie the game. They really wanted to win this one. Clemens coming from the bull pen and pitched great certainly made up for his start. Backe blessing Ausmus' bat made up for his poor start. Everyone contributed.

It was a great game...The only thing that could have made the game more enjoyable is if I wasn't a moron and remembered to pick up some beer. 6 hour game and not one drop of alcohol consumed....Man that is like another record that this game set...I have always liked Roger Clemens but after the game made me like him even more...ESPN's reporter only wanted to talk to Clemens after the game...She grabbed him right after he picked up Burke for hitting the game winner...He reaches over and grabs Burke again and drags him in front of the camera so he can get his piece of the National Spotlight also....That was cool of him...
