Put a fork in the ASTROS they are "DUN" Rookie pitcher for the Bears oops I mean CUBS today gets his first major league win with a 1-0 shutout. The nexttime i watch the "DISASTROS" it will be on Sportscenter. I personally would rather watch "PAINT" dry than watch them play. 20 out of the next 26 games are on the road my prediction 6 wins and 20 losses. When does football season start?

After last night's loss, I am going to jump ship also for the remainder of the year and stop watching them on TV........ I have more fun going to the dentist.
I have 6 games of tickets left for the year..... I may catch the Phillies series, but the others will be given away.
Thank goodness hockey season starts in October..........

If you are giving away tickets, I may take some. ;D I may have had it with the Astros, but I still don't mind going to a game. My idea after last night is have a fire sale. Fire Tim P. (how ever his name is spelled) Fire Garner Trade Ensberg, Everett, Lane, Lidge, Qualls, Springer.

We need a Manager -- not a psychiatrist for Lidge/Qualls's problems.

Well another season is gone after they made the playoffs 3 years in a row this post season is going to suck!! Started off the year 19-9 finished the year 10-2 #thcheerleader# For the other 122 games the went 52-70 #vomit# So for 3/4 of the season they played .420 baseball and for the other 1/4 they played .750 baseball. I wish they hadn't had gone on vacation this summer #cheers2# Oh well there's always next year maybe some of the dead weight will be gone by then #deadhorse#

Well there will definately be some salary available next year. No Bagwell. I hope they get rid of Ensberg and I really hope that Clemens does go ahead and finally retire. Just those 3 players will free up a TON of money to get some pitching and a couple of REAL bats. I think they should sign Huff and put him at 3rd base. Also sign Pettitte for another 2 years. Let Biggio play 1 last season so he can get 3000 hits. Get another Lefty relief pitcher. Trade Lidge. Sign Luke Scott to a long term deal before he requires a big paycheck. These are just a few things that need to be done.

The only national league team that should trade for Lidge is the Cardinals. That way they won't have to worry about him facing Pujoles in a crucial situation #SmlyROFL# As for Huff at third I agree. Put Lamb in right field get rid of Ensberg and Lane. As I call them Iceberg and Lame #vomit# If Ausmus retires( He should he's old for a catcher the defense is still ok but the hitting is gone) Clemens more than likely won't come back. I'd find something to do with Everett also his defense is great but he spent more time on defensive drills rather than the batting cage. Put Bruntlett at short at least he hits the ball. The bottom three in the Astros order this year were almost automatic outs. So we played short-handed all year long. I would sacrifice defense for offense. What the he11 he made 20 errors at shortstop this year he batted .275 and had 15 homers 50-60 rbi. That's better than Everett this year. Play Berkman at first base to save his legs, like the did with Bagwell to save his arm,he's to good for the outfield. Just my thoughts on some things............. gotta run c some of y'all tonight

We will need to bring in 1 or 2 starting pitchers if Clemens and Andy P. retire, not meaning bring up some new young arms with in the farm clubs but established good pitchers from other team.
I would give Ensberg and Lidge another year but see what we could get for Lane.... If we keep Ausmus, then he needs to be the second string catcher, only because of his hitting. The pitchers like him and would probably prefer him over anyone else because of his experience and pitch calls.
Adam E. we should consider trading to a team with good hitting but have a weak short shop, they would be most likely candidate to take him, if we can get something for him.
We need to offer Luke Scott a good deal to keep him but not for more than 2 or 3 years. Let him prove himself a little more before giving up the big bucks. Bring Biggio back for another year, he is still contributing to the team with his hitting. Keep Bruntlett and Willie T..... Our releivers were the best in the ML's the 2nd 1/2 of the year, we should keep most of them.....JMO....

I think y'all all need to take a lesson in Baseball economics. Luke Scott is a rookie. Not eligible for arbitration or free agency or anything. The Astros control his rights and his salary. He will automatically be renewed for a small % raise of the major league minimum. The Club has that control over all players for 3-4 years. Usually they fell pressure to sign to a long term deal the year before they become eligible (see Berkman a few years ago). Jason Lane will bring nothing in a trade. He has no value @ .205 avg., 18 HR and 40 RBI. Neither does Ensberg. Lamb can only play 3rd base or 1st. He butchers the outfield so bad they don't use him there. He has some trade value however... Bruntlett would not bat much more than Everett on a full season play... remember, he got sent down to AAA... he got a shot at playing and was batting the same .240, but plays 1/2 the defense, so they didn't need him... Burke is the one getting screwed over... he his twice the 2nd baseman Biggio is, and is wasting away for the 3,000 hits to pass... Huff is interesting... I don't think he's an OF, and if he is @ 3rd, where is Lamb? Lidge? Who knows...

I don't know anything about that stuff, because I don't keep up on it.... but I knew you do and would have a more knowledgeable opinion of what the Astros may or may not do... ;D...We'll all have to wait and see how it all plays out later....

I was thinking the same thing perfect.... I was just trying to get the off season talk going on what they should and shouldn't do.. Not that we have a say but the banter back and forth is fun.. To put it all in a nutshell the Astros as a WHOLE under achieved this year the only part of the Astros that over achieved were the fans who stayed with them all year long and nver gave up on them. I admit I myself left them for dead at the beginning of August and they proved me wrong but with any run production with runners in scoring position with less than 2 outs from the beginning of June until the end of August they win the division by 10 - 15 games I think and they start playing in the post season this week against San Diego. Oh well maybe they'll get some lumber in the lineup this off season #batte_fou# And I'm not talking about a Preston Wilson. Someone who is a Extra base hitter like Biggio was in his younger days when he set the record for doubles in a season. A player with some fire I think Burke may be that guy hell put him at shortstop middle infielders can play both positions. I hate the way baseball announcers talk about having to TEACH a player how to play a position!!!!!!! Come on these guys are adults. RUN, CATCH , THROW it to the cut off man. Outfield is easy. The infield may be a little different but these guys play baseball for a living and most of them all of there lives as soon as they could throw and hit a ball they were playing baseball. It's not ROCKET SCIENCE. Do you think when these guys are practicing they only practice there prefered position. Hell no they shag balls in batting practice pitch batting practice play all over the field in spring training trying to make the team. #soapbox# I'm off my soapbox let someone else rant for a while!!!!!!!!!

Here is my two cents.
Trade Lidge, Everett and Lane for some pitching. They should let Brad Outmus retire and offer him a coaching position.
Rumor has it that the Astros and going to talk to Carlos Lee of the Rangers since he has stated that he wants to play in Houston. If he signs here are my starters at positions: 1B Berkman 2nd Biggio SS Burke 3RD Huff or Lamb (let them fight for it in Spring Training) LF Lee CF Taveras RF Scott C Sign someone who can hit

But I don't think Burke is a good fit at Short Stop. He has that bad shoulder and here is a lot of diving at that position. Even thou he is going to have surgery on it, he might not be able to handle all the diving. Plus after that air mail ball in the 1st inning yesterday (from 2nd base), the throw from short would be a lot harder.
