copied from my post @ pasadenabowling.com:
Well, the nominating period has closed... I will give a day or 2 for any mailed applications to arrive... we have had several nominations turned in thus far...
Officially, the Pasadena Bowling Hall of Fame, will consider a proposal to reduce the number of inductees from 2 men- 2 women plus posthumous, to 2 inductees without regard to sex. performance, service or posthumous. If approved, this will go into effect this year for 2008. The concerns mentioned were we had inducted 19 new members in 4 years, and the integrity of the Hall of Fame should be ensured. With no judgement passed on any inductees or potential nominees, it was just felt the "honor" of being inducted could be diluted with SO many inductees going in over the last few years.
We will also consider approving a change to minimum eligibility requirements. Currently, nominees must have been an adult member of Pasadena Bowling Associations(s) <PBA, PWBA, GPUSBC> for 10 years. A proposal of 15 years and minimum age of 40 has been motioned and will be considered by membership on 12/9/07. If passed, these new eligibility rules would go into effect for 2009.
Again, maintaining the prestige and honor associated with being inducted into the Pasadena Bowling Hall of Fame is the reason for these proposals for our HoF members to consider.

I think those motions are good and overdue. The only thing I see that this could affect could be the number of people attending the Hall of Fame Banquet. This will cut down additional family members and friends of 2 inductees, that would not be attending this function if it weren't for the two additional people getting inducted. I hope this does not happen, I'm just saying it might. I agree that the integrity of the Hall of Fame be more important than how many tickets we can sell for this banquet.

Of course selling tix is a major byproduct of the event... we want to have as many attend as possible...
The Monument Inn prefers to cram as many into a small a space as possible... we have negotiated for mingling room over the last few years and finally have reserved the entire space...
I do think we need an action team to look for other alternatives... the food and price just can't be beat... but, the sight lines and layout is just horrendous...

There's not that many places in Pasadena or near by that could handle the amount of people and space we need. And the food and price is great. But I agree that the ability to see around the room has a bit to be desired and the parking can be a pain to, especially during the cold, windy and rainy season of February if I remember the last two banquets correctly.

Someone should have told MrP that the voting on Sunday has not yet been ratified by the GPUSBC, and is not official as yet. When that has been done, I will be one of the first in line to congratulate him........... Ratification will be this weekend.

I don't expect the GPUSBC to "undo" what has been done... but, if one doesn't expect the unexpected then who knows what you get run over by....

I was just excited and couldn't wait....because I am proud and happy to be inducted into Pasadena's Hall of Fame. So far to date, this will be the proudest moment of my bowling career.
There hadn't been any problems in the past with the Hall of Fame inductee's getting ratified by the Board and I hope there won't be any problems this year. But PBA is right, I should have waited. But that is why I waited to say anything on here, besides I was waiting for someone to post something first before saying anything.
In all the previous years, the inductee's were posted on here and announced at Arm I before they were ratified, why is it being done differently this year?

I tried to reply earlier from my cell phone, but I guess I messed up.... There has never been an issue with ratifying the results of the Hall of Fame vote... all 1 year that we've done it... However, this year, the HoF voting decision resulted in LESS than the maximum number of inductees being selected. That being said, the Board could possibly vote for another inductee ro be selected, or, they could stand by the HoF decision. Seeing as the voting was conducted properly and only one person received the required 2/3 vote in round 1... I don't see where it is the GPUSBC's position to require a different result from the HoF.

I mean I'm not expecting or endorsing the Board to do anything except ratify the decision of the Hall of FAme voters... I wasn't in favor of the local Association ratifying the decision when it was proposed... I voted against the idea... I was in favor of the Hall of Fame governing itself, electing a chair or govenor or whatever they wanted to call it, select a secretary to record minutes and business, and then, just have the local board finance the operation...

How many votes by Board members is required to ratify? 2/3rds? or just a majority?
I don't have a big problem with the Board ratifying it, since the money to pay for the Banquet and other items comes out of the Assoc. pocket. Besides, if there was something that was not above board that the Hall of Fame was doing and could tarnish the Assoc. image. I would expect the Board to interseed....JMO...

Congratulations to mr. perfect, Jeff Clark.
The GPUSBC has ratified the decision by the Pasadena Bowling Hall of Fame, and, he will be inducted Saturday, February 16, 2008.
mr. p is the only inductee this year, which in a way is fitting...
He has always contended he is in a class by himself...lol
Seriously though, congrats mr. p... your night will be special for you and your family, and I will be proud for you to be a part of it as well..;
