For eveyone interested in the sport league this summer would you want to use one of USBC sport patterns or go with the PBA Experience. The PBA Experience is the National tours patterns (Viper, Cheetah, Scorpion, etc.)

The PBA Experience is the National tours patterns (Viper, Cheetah, Scorpion, etc.) Unless Randy is going to purchase a new "WICKLESS" oil machine before the summer the PBA Experience shots are IMPOSSIBLE to lay down with the oil machines they currently use. Personally I would like to bowl a PBA Experience league but only if the lane machine can put out an ACCURATE shot. Not a big fan of putting down something SIMILAR just because they say it's close and it never really is IMO...............bom

I would also like it if they had the PBA experience shots out. It would also help because the regoinals are going back to these patterns starting in April.

Now when regionals go to the different houses they use the houses machine. Not all houses have wickless machines so you will get the same shot as you would if you bowled a regional.

No, the PBA Regionals have their own machine and takes it with them to each venue. They do not use the lane machine of each house to put out their shot....

Jeff your starting to show how long its been since you bowled a regional. When the new owners of the PBA came in they wanted to cut costs so they did away with the lane maint. people and the ball inspectors. Now the PBA uses the houses machines except on the National Tour.

Well then, I stand corrected... It has been a long time since I've bowled Regionals.....actually back then, I think they laid out the shot by hand back in my day...lol.... At least I know they did for sure on the National Tour, I'm not sure if they used a machine or not in Regional competition back then but I was thinking they did the Regionals by hand as well but not sure on that........ They no longer check the balls either for weights and hardness? Wow.... that's surprising....

For the people that cash they check certian places, for example 1st, 5th, 10th and so on. So if you want to use illegal equipment and hope you are not in those spots you can. I don't think I would risk it myself.

I have a ball that I took to Nationals in Reno and it was fine. Last year when I went to Nationals it was now marginal. I have never done anything to the ball.

I didn't know for sure about what machine the regionals used. I would just show up to bowl or at least try to bowl anyway. I don't know if all that is going to change now that the regionals are going to be putting out the same pattern as the nationals again.

Ok everybody..I am here to clear things up. First of all we ARE doing the PBA experience league this summer instead of the standard Sports league. We are going to be putting down the Viper Pattern and the Chemleon Pattern. They have the patterns for pad machines. The pad machine at Armadilla I is good to lay these shots down. I have talked to Steve Wonderlich @ USBC and we have been registered for this league. I have confirmed with Jimbo and we have the needed 7-3-5-5-5-5-3-7 pads required already in the machine. SO..the first 6 weeks will be the Viper, then the next 6 weeks the Chamleon. They are the slicker patterns and offer the gutter and the middle to play with. Will be starting on June 5th, 2007 with the meeting on the pre-ceding Tuesday May 29th @ 7:00 PM. It wil again be a trio league. Right now standard format of 12 weeks and winner is declared after that. Not split or anything at this time. We can vote on formats and change if the people want too. As well, Armadilla I is resurfacing memorial weekend, so we will have clean lane beds to have these 2 patterns put down. Dana will be adding some money depending on how many teams we get.
So, there...let the comments begin and any suggestions as well.

yep..the pads are ready to go..just need to program and I already have the programs to do it.
...IF You want to read about the patterns..go to BOWL.COM and click on the PBA EXPERIENCE league and it will have the low down on the patterns. How they play, who bowls well on them on tour and so on. Good information. I will have hand outs at the meeting on them as well. James
