This coming weekend is the first SASBA Tourn. of the year and it's a Member/Guest Tourn. at Mark Williams center in Beaumont. My normal Senior partner for these events isn't bowling this one, so Jimmy Y. set me up with Bob Purzecki out of Angleton. I don't know him but Jimmy said he's won a couple of High Rollers and is still pretty tough bowler. So, I hope I don't let him down...lol....
I see that Donna Connors and Carol Norman are bowling together on this one..... But I have to say that the team of David Ozio and Marc L. (Smurf) will go high in the Calcutta and probably finish higher than 5th.... would be my prediction...lol... There's 54 entries as of now but they are expecting more.... The Lane Assignment are posted at their website if anyone wants to see who all is bowling...... Since the National Tour is going on right now, some of the normal top level guest won't be there.... so hopefully our chances of cashing will go up.....lol...
Also, Jimbo Evans is bowling with Dennis Francis for this one...I'm sure they will do well.....

After qualifing 7th in our squad with a plus 408 my partner and I felt pretty confident we would make the finals. They were taking 18 teams to the finals. So I drove on back home from Beaumont, feeling I didn't need to hang around to be sure.
Called Paul Kistler at 7:30pm. said the squad was finishing up but our # of +408 was the number going into the last game. As it turns out +429 was the number to make the finals and we finished 21st., which means that 14 teams went around us out of the "B" squad..... I have to wonder if the shot was better for the second squad. Normally, the Finalists are split between the squads or 1 off either way....but only 6 teams from our squad made it and 12 made it from "B" squad.... it's got to make you wonder....JMO...

Here were the finalist....we miss out by 21 pins and I left 2 stone 8 pins and 2 solid 9 pins.... spared all my 10 pins for the day, but chopped one 6-10 spare. I was +177 (it should have been more) and my partner was +231. I hear Jerry Swank and Royce Rusher won...but I don't know where any one else finished up...
1. JIMMY YOUNG-SEAN SWANSON........+730 2. DAVID MANNING-DUSTIN OCHOA.......715 3. JERRY SWANK-ROYCE RUSHER...........673 4. BILL GILLANE-JOEY AMADEO..............658 5. PS...CJ didn't bowl this one, if he would have, he would have asked me.....per his email to me... Even though I felt pretty good about my bowling, I still feel I could have done better....I need some new equipment and I need to bake some of the oil out of the balls I have now..... I've never done it before but I hear it makes a big difference in ball reaction and carry. These new balls soak up a lot of oil, I hear Mike Austin swears by it...

Jeff, That's actually very impressive. Only 20 doubles did better than yall, but 36 did worst. That's good considering you had a partner you didn't know. Now Bom, lay off some, he at least gets out there and competes. It is alot harder to bowl at strange houses then at just one house. You can only get better by junping in there and trying. Way to go.

Thanks for the compliment rjj.... but I would have been more impressed if I'd knocked down another 30 pins...lol.... I had the shot, too many bad taps and a few too many poor shots by me, kept us out of the finals.... I should have scored better than what I did on that shot....JMO... It's funny, many will "Talk the Talk" but they won't go out and try and "Walk the Walk"......in the bigger tournaments..... I give more respect to those who try and fail, than to those that never try.....JMO...

#nsrtrts_104# That's why I haven't posted anything in a couple of months. Can't even rag on a friend. If I didn't work every f**king weekend maybe I could bowl a tournament every once in awhile. I can barely go to Nationals for the first time in 11 years thank God i have friends like Robbie who'll cover a couple of shifts for me so I can go. Maybe I'll make another post in a few months #smileys-gif-127_0# #bsflag#

Bom, simmer down - simmer down. you are taking it personally - we all rag Jeff but he is out there so every now and then i feel we should support him. Don't be so defensive and don't be so ugly about it. I know Armadilla has it's faults as a place to work, but - please don't tell me on top of the many many benefits they don't offer people, even though they are a high profit workplace, that they don't offer vacations. and if they do, then the way it works at most places is you tell them when you are taking off and then it's upper management's responsibility (Allison or Randy) to fill the void with either their own bodies (JOKE!) or someone else - it's THEIR problem - not yours. I can't remember the last time you actually took a vacation and you deserve one. It would be nice to see you out able to compete because you would be in the top, i know it. Now unwad those panties and be happy!

Funny, I see an opportunity to rag on perfect almost as much as bom...
Take this topic for example... perfect is being congratulated for competing is a SASBA tournament on walled up conditions and then states he "respects people that walk the walk" instead of "talking the talk", not only that he wants credit for bowling in unfamiliar houses.... but, there was a $5,000 scratch tournament at a house he has bowled at for years... and he didn't compete...
Seems like a paradoxical quandary to me....
(I don't know if thiese are real words, if they are they may be spelled wrong)

I don't like bowling in re-entry tourns. like the one diamond had. A 100.00 dollars to bowl 3 games on a shot that was slick as hell and little recognition.... Were SASBA on the other hand is partially sponsored by Ebonite, you bowl at least 9 games for the 160.00 dollar entry fee and there's no re-entries... You have top talent young and old and these Tourns. carry much more recognition and prestige, at least to me they do...

You have stated over and over again that you only want to support and compete in events that have lots of prestige and a large recognition factor... yet you have failed to be recognized by your local Hall of Fame. Might it be because you don't support local tournaments... opting instead to compete in Beaumont, Plano, Austin, Dallas and San Antonio...
